“I’ll remember the Gallows as one of the sweetest race finishes: after a long climb where most riders surely regret their full-gas start and count down the final kilometers in 100m intervals, only to be greeted by a community waiting to celebrate you.”

500kms of wandering in the desert with @teamterramater🏜
We raced hard, had fun, and I learnt so much from my legendary team mates. The people I have met through adventure racing has been the biggest gift.

Adventure Racing World Champs 2023

I now have renewed appreciation for the power of sleep & the energy & hope that first light brings. I soon realised that I was wasting energy stressing about each next leg, as I could trust my body to show up & get the work done. We switched our headlights off to look at the stars, swam in karoo dams & raced into the red when needed. Thank you God for keeping us safe. Thank you @teamterramater for all the laughter, motivational speeches & moments that are impossible to retell.

Even though we were so lucky to have @reblex_sa on the camera, it is still challenging to capture 158 hours/900kms of extreme highs & lows in a few photos!
