Hello Netherlands 🇳🇱

Even when I don’t have a specific race planned, I keep training regularly. That’s why whenever I move to a new place or travel somewhere, the first thing I do is check the map to find the nearest athletics track.

I started training with AV’23 Club (@av23amsterdam )in March, and even though we don’t always speak the same language, sharing an environment with people who have the same passion and love for running shows that running truly is a universal language.
We have two interval sessions every week; one coached by @loopwijzer_ and the other by @thomas.reijerkerk . Before every training session, we spend half an hour doing running drills. My training partners are disciplined and strong runners, and we constantly push each other to take the next step.

I feel a deep gratitude towards the club that has supported my development and helped me improve. One way I wanted to give back was by participating in club competitions, representing AV’23, and contributing points for the team. I am also very proud of our women’s masters group. We have fun together, but once we step onto the track, we fight for every second.
For me, road races are more about competing with yourself and your own time, while on the track your opponents become the runners around you. You try to catch and pass them, and especially in the final 200 meters, everything can change in a very short time. That is the moment when you feel the competition the most ,the moment when you give everything you have to reach the finish line. 😁
After running 5,000m in 19:09 in June, I was randomly looking through the club records and noticed that the record for my age category was 18:58 (from 1995). I decided to register for the next race because one month later it would be my birthday, and I wanted to officially run the 5,000m before turning 40.
