![Annabel Monaghan does it again! I love all her novels, but IT’S A LOVE STORY is right up there with NORA GOES OFF SCRIPT with my top-top favorites. ❤️📚❤️📚
The funny thing is... despite the fact the I’ve written in the genre, I’m actually a really hard sell when it comes to romance or rom-com books. I tend to catch myself rolling my eyes a lot. But I NEVER do with an Annabel Monaghan book. She just never puts a toe out of line for me. Her characters are warm, witty, and so real — they feel like people you’ve actually hung out with (and would want to). The dialogue is never corny, the attraction never forced, the touching never ick. In this one, the love story delivers like your favorite feel-good Nora Ephron movie. There’s such a sense of relief when these two people find love.
Another interesting thing Monaghan does well in both this book and in NORA is to blend in plot points revolving around Hollywood that come off as surprisingly believable and don’t take away one iota from the characters relatability (Jane was a child star, yet is completely relatable everywoman... Nora wins an Oscar [an Oscar!] and is also a completely relatable mom with a mean meatloaf recipe... how Monaghan pulls this off is pure magic). I’d say Monaghan’s books strike this perfect note between an Emily Henry rom-com and a Steven Rowley rom-com. She leans into the “rom” like Henry, but then delivers warm witty “com” like Rowley.
Anyway, do yourself a favor and PRE-ORER THIS BOOK NOW — your summer self with thank you, and then maybe treat you to a lemonade. This is *the* perfect beach read. 🏖📚🌊🍹 by @suzannerindell](https://scontent-mia3-3.cdninstagram.com/v/t51.75761-15/488221741_18502147579043524_2367438079546221633_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_e35_s640x640_tt6&_nc_cat=107&ccb=7-5&_nc_sid=18de74&efg=eyJlZmdfdGFnIjoiRkVFRC5iZXN0X2ltYWdlX3VybGdlbi5DMyJ9&_nc_ohc=FdfaQOBY9iEQ7kNvwEHhqbN&_nc_oc=Ado5IulAPYU4UbwoApR9F0mgBrxf3MqE-X9AQ93F7YbW_dP981Q6fv64s7pesAt8DwrosRyUPcARTgPDrozZ__pm&_nc_zt=23&_nc_ht=scontent-mia3-3.cdninstagram.com&_nc_gid=1wXg_6L2bQYFziPwD0dxBA&_nc_ss=70689&oh=00_AQQRiCl-Na_QUT67OW2z6aq1rEAZ_hPus_JhvElg_WlsAQ&oe=6AEFDE94)
