I’m honored and incredibly proud to announce that my painting The Slivering Veil has received the Art Renewal Center Purchase Award in the 18th Art Renewal Center (ARC) Salon Competition. To be chosen among such strong and inspiring competition is truly meaningful, and I’m deeply grateful to the jurors for selecting The Slivering Veil for this prestigious recognition. I am so happy to say that I was given the Dame Emma Thompson Award from the Women in Art Initiative for my painting, Beth. The WIA’s exhibition at the @roundhouseldn (which was a perfect venue for the event) had so many amazing artists. I at first didn’t believe it when Dame Emma announced my name as the winner!Thank you to Gabrielle for organising this wonderful exhibition and for everything she does to promote women’s contributions to art. A separate thank you to Cass Art for providing prizes for the award - I really appreciate what you have contributed!And a final thank you to the competition’s judges and in particular Dame Emma Thomson. I’m incredibly honoured to have received an Art Renewal Center Purchase Award in the 18th International ARC Salon Competition, with my painting now part of the 17th/18th International ARC Salon Exhibition at Sotheby’s New York.The ARC Salon is one of the world’s most prestigious competitions for representational art, making this recognition a true dream come true. To have my work exhibited alongside so many artists I have admired for years is both humbling and inspiring.My heartfelt thanks to the Art Renewal Center, the jurors, and everyone involved in making this extraordinary exhibition possible.If you’re in New York, the exhibition is on view at Sotheby’s, 945 Madison Avenue, from 17–27 July, with free public admission. What a fantastic week at the Society of Women Artists (SWA) 165th Annual Exhibition at the Mall Galleries!I’m delighted to have two of my paintings exhibited amongst so many inspiring works by talented artists. It’s been wonderful meeting visitors, fellow artists, and catching up with friends throughout the week.The exhibition has been so much more than beautiful art, with live music, fascinating artist talks, and demonstrations creating such a vibrant atmosphere. A huge thank you to everyone involved in making it such a special event.There’s still time to visit—but not much! The exhibition runs until Saturday 27 June, 5pm, at the Mall Galleries, London. Looking back at some of our incredible winners , this is @sv_fineart _ she won The Dame Emma Thompson painting prize in 2023 Svetlana Semenova is a contemporary artist, based in London, trained in the classical-realist tradition. She is an Associate Member of the Society of Women Artists (ASWA).Svetlana has exhibited in the United States, Europe and Russia, including numerous shows at the Mall Galleries in London. She has received several awards and scholarships for her still life and portrait paintings, including from the prestigious Art Renewal Center. Svetlana’s medium is primarily oils and charcoal, and her works include portraiture, still life and landscapes paintings and drawings. Svetlana’s work is firmly rooted in the tradition of representational art, particularly as passed down through the historical lineage of European ateliers and academies, while also incorporating modern materials and themes.Svetlana has completed courses in art and design at Central St. Martins, in academic drawing and painting at the School of Architecture and Design in Moscow, Russia, and she graduated from the London Atelier of Representational Art (LARA).
