Am Donnerstag, den 18. Juni eröffnet mit ROSES die erste Einzelaustellung von SVEN SCHARFENBERG am Hallerplatz 8. Die für diese Ausstellung 2025 und 2026 entstandene Werkreihe von Gemälden verhandelt Themen des Erinnerns, des Kümmerns, des Zuhörens und des Verlustes. Scharfenberg geht mit einer besonderen Aufmerksamkeit für die Stimmung und die malerischen Details an seine Stillleben heran und bringt uns als Betrachter durch seine Herangehensweise an eine Form der emotionalen Malerei ganz nah an sein Motiv und in die Welt seiner Bildfindung. Die Titel der Werke verweisen immer wieder auf Biographisches und werfen Fragen auf. In 2022, Jan and I decided to collaborate on a joint exhibition. Initially, we planned a group show, but that idea didn’t pan out. Instead, we embarked on a more playful project.At the beginning of 2023, we started exchanging drawings by post. Drawing from our archives, we incorporated imagery that often wouldn’t typically feature in our paintings. One of us would start a drawing, and the other would complete it. Occasionally, additional changes were made along the way.The process involved emulating each other’s style, referencing, making jokes, removing elements, or adding new ones. It was a sometimes frustrating, often associative but always intriguing project.This collaboration resulted in works that neither of us could have created individually. Together, we discovered a “third space” where our ideas converged in unexpected ways.Thanks for the ride @omta_omtaA selection of more than 80 works that were created during the timespan of 1,5 years can currently be seen in the show "Sachlich & Brühwarm" at Raab Galerie in Berlin. "Zarte Isolation", 2024, 100x75cm, acrylics and oil on canvas.Though pretty reduced for my visual vocabulary, this one feels fresh to me thanks to some new layering tricks and color choices. My palette has become muddier in the second half of 2024.This painting can currently be seen in the show "Sachlich & Brühwarm" together with Jan-Hendrik Brinkmann in Berlin.Come see the show.
