“I love you because I am afraid of the dark and can’t sleep in the light....because you, with all your magic powers, were determined that I should love you. Because there was nothing for you but that I would love you. I love you because you made me want to love you more than I love my privacy, my freedom, my commitments, and my responsibilities. I love you because I changed my life to love you.”

“Black love is Black wealth.”

“Every Trump voter is certainly not a white supremacist, just as every white person in the Jim Crow South was not a white supremacist. But every Trump voter felt it was acceptable to hand the fate of the country over to one.” ― Ta-Nehisi Coates taken in Columbus, Ohio by @swaltonesq

COLLECTIVE POWER IS OUR COLUMBUS WAY. ✊🏾

This morning, the NAACP Columbus Executive Committee came together for a working retreat focused on strengthening our organization, aligning our priorities, and building the collective power necessary to truly represent and serve the people of Columbus.

From housing and healthcare to education, economic opportunity, and civic engagement, we’re organizing around the issues that matter most to our communities.

Because real change requires more than good intentions. It requires organization, collaboration, and collective action.

We’re building the infrastructure to turn the power of our people into meaningful progress for our city.

This is the work. This is the movement. This is NAACP Columbus.

✊🏾 Join us.

EVERYBODY EATS. EVERYBODY WINS.

But building Black wealth requires more than individual success. It requires collective power.

NAACP Columbus President Sean Walton Jr. and Economic Development Co-Chair Brandy Avery helped set the tone at the African American Male Wellness Agency’s Financial Wellness Symposium, featuring Daymond John.

The message was simple: We have the talent, ideas, and resources. Now we must build the systems that connect them and create sustainable opportunities for everyone.

That’s what we’re building through NAACP Columbus.

Special thanks to NAACP Columbus Women in the NAACP (W.I.N.) Co-Chair Dr. Pamela Gregory for the invitation!

Everybody can eat. Everybody can win. But first, we must build. Applied knowledge is power.

✊🏾 Join the movement.

We are our ancestors’ wildest dreams.

On June 28, we swore in the new leadership of NAACP Columbus Branch 3177. Watch the recap, then take your place in what comes next.

One person cannot make a system answer. Thousands of people, organized, can.

Membership is collective power. An intergenerational union of Black people and our allies, building Black power and protecting Black joy.

Adult: $30 a year
Youth (20 and under): $10

Join through the branch with just a few clicks at NAACP614.org. Link in bio.

Happy anniversary to my love. This season that we are in is wild.

The world is chaotic. We find ourselves immersed between the children we’re raising, and the family that raised us. Our community is hurting, and we believe that there are solutions.

It is so very hard. Every single day could be full of ‘the scaries’ and yet it isn’t.

Not for me. I have you. I call you my Superman, but that’s not pressure, that’s acknowledgment. This world is not one I could live in without you.

You erase every cloud, every doubt and every fear. You instead paint the vision, you clear the way, and you hold my hand every single step.

When people say “Jennifer you’re built for this” I am polite, I smile, and I agree. But the truth is, it’s only true because for the last 16 years, 13 married, today, I’ve been learning what it takes from you.

I love you so very much Mr. Walton, it’s such an honor to be your wife. You my man, FOREVER, Mr. Man of The Year. LOLOL

Happy 13th Anniversary! #jgxsw2013
