Hello, we’re Sam and Clare, the directors of Swan Hill Studios.

Between us we bring together graphic design, print, art, and communications along with a shared belief that creative spaces should be open, generous, and full of life. We’ve been working together for the past six years on projects spanning everything from art to aeroplanes. Sam founded the studios and runs her art practice and communications business PS We Create from here, while Clare brings over twenty years of design experience and is the proud co-owner of the Risograph printing business AAAAAAH RISO with artist @revdancatt

Swan Hill Studios is a working art and design studio and risograph print service, housed in an 18th-century building in the heart of Shrewsbury. Alongside our studio practice, we run a contemporary gallery and a year-round programme of exhibitions and events, shining a light on emerging and established artists, designers, illustrators, writers, and makers.

June is a big month for us. Today we are incredibly proud to launch our new website and branding designed by @daisypooleytolkien and soon our new snail mail club - Swan Hill Post.

Community is at the heart of everything we do, bringing independent thinkers and creatives together to connect, collaborate, and belong through The Circle. To close out her two-week exhibition, the wonderful Kaori Okada-Hood will join her @te.by_kao pieces at @jigsaw.shrewsbury (3 the Square) tomorrow.

te. by Kao spans homeware, accessories and custom pieces, all designed with as much thought for functionality and longevity as for easy elegance.

Kaori has had a sensational year especially when she was commissioned to create a series of vases for David Austin Roses which were displayed at the 2026 RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Pop by and say hello 12-2pm tomorrow.

Drawing is how I started to explore the body, and how I felt about my own body. I drew women who were comfortable with their big hips, thighs and bellies. Women owning their space and owning their sexuality.

I've been inspired by the ancient Venus figurines for a long time. Some of them are over 35,000 years old.

Fertility symbols? Beauty standards? Nobody really knows what they were for. But to me they're proof that the shape I was taught to be ashamed of was once held as precious.

They're so strong, but they're so small. I wanted to make one big enough to take up space.

They started because I was angry at men. At relationships that kept failing. At broken guys who didn't treat me right.

I made them in anger. A way to put my feelings into words.

Then I went deeper. Was it really them? Or was it the stories we are given?

The prince who arrives. Who saves you. Who makes everything make sense.

Can anyone ever live up to that?
