hi new friends! @yvonneshoots took this cutie pic of me and my knits over the weekend at @thefront.market so i thought it was time for a proper introduction!
i’m kate, and i was born on a record hot day in idaho, so naturally i thrive in summer and make cozy things for a living. i’m a cancer sun/aires moon/pisces rising, and my love languages are physical touch and quality time. i learned how to knit in the 4th grade after my art teacher caught me purposefully not finishing projects on time so i could stay in the studio late, and invited me to join her after school knitting club. i was a pre-professional ballet dancer for 15 years before i injured out in college and went after a career that didn’t require working feet (for context i broke at least one bone every year from the ages of 12-21. i also broke my finger a few months ago so i guess the curse is back) other than that i’m mostly okay these days, but you might catch me walking funny when i’ve been on my feet too much. i’m a certified pilates instructor, and i think everything is better with avocado. i love watching old sci fi/horror b-movies in my free time and i’ve always got a podcast playing. i have a bloodhound/blackmouth cur mix named elvis who i love more than anything else. i take him everywhere with me because he has a congenital heart defect and even though he’s happy and healthy, every moment i have with him is special :)

feeling very *vest in show* indeed in my version of the riverside vest by bestie girl @yarnmatter (oh and she dyed the cream yarn too ofc). erin designed this pattern as part of a collection for a woolen affair next weekend, and it’s going to be so cute seeing everyone in our matching fits! pattern testing is pretty much the only way i finish projects for myself these days so i’m very grateful to have such talented friends in my circle. okay now off to romp around a few more hudson valley cemeteries 👻🪦 by @sweaterp.rn

my zephyr pullover test knit for @em.knits_ is finally finished and i’m in love! that is all!
•
yarn: gossamer by chasing rabbits//aka barker wool
pattern: zephyr pullover by emknits, releasing soon (!!!). i did the cropped version with dramatic sleeves, but shortened these sleeves about 3 in and made them a little less dramatic (but still perfectly flowy) by @sweaterp.rn

tank tops part 2, debuting tomorrow !!
my first cotton version of these were a big hit pretty much all of last year, so obviously i had to make them a permanent part of the sweater porn lineup
this year’s iteration of tanks comes with some changes- including modified sizes (extra length!) a more inclusive size range up to 3X, and a new material! from now on, i’ll be using a silk/non superwash naturally dyed by hand wool blend from @yarnmatter. it’s lighter, more breathable, and has better stretch and memory than the cotton. for full disclosure, these changes do come with a price adjustment, but I find it 100% worth it, and i hope you do too

i’m back! been quietly stepping out of my sweater knitting comfort zone to help @cucurucu_crochet test her newest pattern- the eileen vest! it was so fun and quick, and just what my brain needed to recharge my creativity and remind me that i can crochet! will this be the year sweater porn knitwear becomes sweater porn knit and crochet wear??

ps i’m using the dreamiest hand dyed yarn from @savannahrosehandmade in her halloween shades “nightmare before christmas” and “homage to halloween” and “mulder” from her x-files collection. seriously the camera can’t even capture the depth of these colors and i wish i could show everyone in person!! taken in Rio Vista Park San Marcos River by @sweaterp.rn

sunset matched my sweater last night! i finally finished this kaffe fassett inspired, double-variegated fair isle pullover yesterday and decided to take it out on a test drive before it gets too cold. it’s the first in a new line of knits i’m working on in collaboration with good friend erin of @yarnmatter !! she’s a local dyer that uses all-natural fibers and dyes, and i’m SO EXCITED to make a bunch of sweaters using her incredible yarns. this one uses her extra pure sock base in the colors “the march” and “true colors” and it is *so* soft and warm!
if you need me, i’ll be buried under 1000 blankets until it warms up above 60 degrees. i also have a limited number of ready-to-ship sweaters! if anyone needs something to keep them warm, i’d love to show you what i’ve got! by @sweaterp.rn

just updated my bio with sweater p*rn’s last few market dates of the year! i wish i could be popping up every weekend during sweater szn, but my beloved standard gauge knitting machine has other ideas. she’s going on 50 years old and has decided to take a break for the rest of the year, so i am too. i’ve managed to get a few pieces done before she broke, so come say hi and shop some big ass sweaters! (except for this one, i want it for myself 🥲) by @sweaterp.rn

celebrating 1 year today of my baby sweater porn! i cough up yarn fuzz most mornings and have so many ongoing commissions it feels like i’ll be knitting forever, and i wouldn’t have it any other way. very grateful 🧡 taken in Austin, Texas by @sweaterp.rn

knits for an endless texas summer! 50/50 linen/cotton blend, super light and airy, and juuuust the right amount of sheer ;) this one is kate sized and it will be available tomorrow at the passport market but i can make it up to size 3X, just say the word!
