I’m Scott Sweeney, owner of SweeneyBrass, where I’ve spent nearly two decades repairing, restoring, and redesigning brass instruments for professional musicians, dedicated players, and collectors.

Trained as a bass trombonist and apprenticed on New York City’s Music Row, I approach every instrument with the eye of a craftsman, the curiosity of an engineer, and the perspective of a working musician. Whether I’m restoring a century-old instrument, refining the performance of a modern one, or developing a custom design, I’m always looking for thoughtful, lasting solutions. My goal is simple: to help every instrument reach its full potential so musicians can focus on making music.

You can meet him at Boylan Art Studios on the BAD Studio Tour (stop 5️⃣ on the trolley).

Small news…I’m moving my shop!

After 8 years in my current space it’s time for a change. I’ll still be in Raleigh, just across town in a smaller studio setting.

Lots to move, lots to do! And look, natural light!!

The final result of a Bach 42 rebuilt with new valve and updated wrap. I rebuild trombones thoughtfully - carefully checking each joint and tube for proper fitment and ensuring the whole assembly is stress free. Among many other things… taken in Sweeney Brass Repair by @sweeneybrass
