I’ve been searching for the Washington Weddings issue all month……only to find out it was hiding inside the January edition of Washingtonian Magazine the entire time. [insert sloooow eye roll lol]So today’s wins include:✨ Finally finding the magazine (shoutout to Whole Foods Market in Virginia for having it!)✨ Celebrating my Mom’s birthday over breakfast, but also ✨ Choosing peace by ordering donuts, eggs, and bacon instead of cooking after days of bakingBecause after all that oven time… who is turning on the stove? One of the most common messages I receive is a photo of a cake followed by, "How much would this cost?"I completely understand why people ask. A photo feels like it should be enough.But the truth is, the photo is only one part of the story.The number of servings, flavors, decorative details, and whether the order is picked up or delivered all play a role in creating an accurate proposal. That's why two cakes that look very similar can have different investments.The good news is that you don't need to know all the right questions before reaching out. The biggest mistake isn't waiting too long to order the cake.It's waiting too long to celebrate the people you love.We assume there will always be another birthday.Another Father's Day.Another retirement.Another anniversary.𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐰𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐭. These 3 cakes were created to celebrate a dad's 60th birthday because his family wanted him to feel seen, appreciated, and celebrated for the life he's lived.And that's something I don't think we do often enough.Sometimes, the men in our lives are the first to say, "Don't make a fuss." But that doesn't mean they don't appreciate knowing the people they love took the time to celebrate them.Not every meaningful celebration is a milestone.
