Posing a character for sculpting can often be much different than posing for animation. The key to a good neutral pose is the median position - something relaxed in close proximity to how the limbs will be transforming.
Animating a lowkey, go with the flow froglin wizard? A-pose is probably just fine. Plan to make him swing a mace and do backflips? A T-pose may be the better move.

A brief detour from our character fabrications - we spent the last week creating the Staff of Swarming Insects from #dnd5e in Character Forge 🦟

EP16 - Introduction to the prop and an overview of our path forward. We modeled the base mesh, took it into ZBrush and sculpted the whole thing, adding the small details.
EP17 - We stumbled upon magical retopology, UV unwrapped it all, and then hand painted the textures in Substance Painter. After that, we set up a stylized glass inside of Blender.
EP18 - We added the bugs, created a faux glow, rigged it with a dynamic rope rig, lit, composited, and rendered it.

Save this post for your next rigging endeavor 📌
We’re using a simple driver setup to add a blinking controller to our armature. But it doesn’t just have to be something dumb like blinking. Drivers are a powerful tool inside of Blender that can be utilized to control all sorts of stuff.
