Over 10 years ago, I started Sweet Cakes by Ray with a love for creating cakes and celebrating people. I never imagined that one day my story would be featured as a source of daily inspiration. 🥹💜

Thank you, Nashville Voyager, for inviting me to share my journey, the heart behind my business, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. It’s an honor to be seen and to have the opportunity to encourage someone else through my story. ✨

Every challenge, every pivot, every prayer, and every celebration has shaped the woman, entrepreneur, and creative I am today. And I truly believe none of it was just for me.

✨ TEN YEARS LATER. ✨

Ten years ago, Sweet Cakes by Ray started in a club in Atlanta. 🥂💜

I was celebrating with my sister, @iamthelaurenelise when the idea was born. And before she jumps in the comments… yes girl, you came up with the name. 😂👏🏽

Back then, I had no clue what God was preparing me for. Just a gift, a vision, and enough faith to start. ✨🙏🏽

Today, that little idea has grown into cakes, classes, experiences, partnerships, and thousands of celebrations.

And now, 10 years later, I’m preparing to launch my very first museum-inspired pop-up experience. 😭💜

God has been writing this story from the very beginning.

Thank you to everyone who has supported, booked, shared, referred, encouraged, and believed in Sweet Cakes by Ray over the years. 🥂✨

✨ A NIGHT OF CELEBRATION, ART & LEGACY ✨

Whew. 🥹💜

I am still trying to process everything.

Months of planning. Countless prayers. So many moving pieces. And somehow, by the grace of God, it all came together more beautifully than I could have imagined. 🙏🏽✨

From the champagne toast 🥂 to the cake flights 🎂, the museum moments, the speeches, the photos, the laughter, and yes… the tears. 😭💜

A special thank you to the talented artists who helped bring the museum experience to life through their custom art installations. 🎨✨

MAJOR S/O to @reggiewayne_1 and @britneydrake_ for trusting the vision and creating pieces that helped tell the story of Sweet Cakes by Ray in such a meaningful way. Your artistry added another layer of depth, creativity, and legacy to this experience, and I am so grateful. 🖼️

Seeing so many people show up, support, celebrate, and believe in this vision meant more than I can put into words. 🥹

One of my favorite moments was having my niece and two little cousins there to witness it all. Watching the next generation see what is possible made this milestone even more special. 💕

To every guest, volunteer, supporter, client, collaborator, friend, and family member who helped bring this experience to life, THANKYOUUUUU. So much! 🫶🏽

There were so many moments during the evening when I had to pause and remind myself that this was real.

Ten years ago, I started with a gift, a vision, and faith…

Today, I stand in gratitude.

God continues to exceed every expectation I have ever placed on my life, and this event was a reminder that He is still writing the story. ✨

This is only the beginning. 🤸🏾‍♀️

Real Life Lately. 💜

Showing up for the people I love.
Celebrating graduations.
Building Sweet Cakes by Ray.
Preparing for the anniversary gala.
Going to the gym.
Staying committed to run club.
Meal prepping on long work days.
Creating.
Growing.
Trying again.

Life has felt full lately in the most beautiful and exhausting way at the same time. 😭✨

And while I’m still learning how to balance it all, I’m genuinely proud of myself for continuing to show up through every season.

Not perfectly.
Not gracefully every day.
But consistently.

And honestly?
That matters too. 💜

God is still growing me in every area of my life, and I’m learning to appreciate the journey while I’m living it.

10 years ago, my best friend trusted me to make a birthday cake for her… and somehow that one moment turned into Sweet Cakes by Ray. 🥹💜

Looking back at all the cakes I’ve created for her over the years honestly feels surreal.

So much life has happened in between these photos.
So much growth.
So many lessons.
So many prayers.
So many moments where we had no idea what this business would eventually become.

And somehow… we’re now 10 birthday cakes later 😭💜
Can’t wait to see what this year’s cake turns into. ✨

And yet here we are… 10 years later. ✨

It’s really beautiful to realize that something so life-changing started from friendship, trust, creativity, and simply saying “yes” to trying.

God truly knew what He was doing the entire time.

Forever grateful for the people who believed in me before any of this became what it is today. 💜
