For readers who love gothic Christian historical romances. 📚

Lost in Darkness @michellegriep

This book is both heart-breaking and heart-warming at the same time. I felt so deeply for the main characters, especially as they struggled through their challenges, difficult choices, guilt, and grief. Watching them learn to rely on God in all circumstances was inspiring.

The romance was SO sweet, with slight “forbidden” romance vibes. Graham is the doctor treating Amelia’s brother and is trying (unsuccessfully) to stay professional. He thinks he is a broken and fallen man, but he is actually a super protective, compassionate green-flag hero. 🫠

📖 I’ve loved the book Frankenstein since I first read it in high school, with its powerful and thought-provoking themes. This book brings everything I love about Frankenstein- but adds faith, hope, and a hard-earned happy ending. Yes, there is still death and destruction, but there is so much light and love as well.

➡️ Even if you haven’t read Frankenstein, you’ll still love this book if you enjoy gothic novels.

Similar to Dr. Frankenstein, this book features Dr. Peckwood, whose hubris and desire for power & prestige leads to the destruction of innocent lives.

For readers who love cozy paranormal romance reads!

📚Faeries of Door County Series @tonicabellwrites

First of all, Toni Cabell has created the most lovely little town full of faeries, werewolves, and vampires (who don’t drink blood). I absolutely love all the cute and quirky characters. Werewolves who are firefighters? Love it!!!! Faeries with the gift of baking exactly what you need? I totally want to eat at that cafe! 😁

Normally when you hear paranormal, you might think “creepy”. But Toni Cabell’s paranormal romances are 100% cozy, cute, and adorable. Nothing creepy at all.

➡️ There are a couple of brief fights with a dangerous rogue werewolf, but nothing is remotely gruesome. It is all solidly PG.

📚 This book works as a standalone, but is part of a series. While the series can be read in any order, I’m glad I read the series in order - especially so I know more about each character and their journey. I just love this quirky little town and all its super-natural inhabitants!

No-spice Cozy Paranormal Romance! 🧚🏻🐺🧛🧜‍♀️

This cute and cozy romance features a fastidious werewolf and grumpy fairy in a world full of vampires, werewolves, fairies, mermaids, and of course, humans.

This story is full of swoony romance, adventurous action, witty banter, and humor. There were definitely a few surprises I didn’t see coming.

How can I even describe the perfection of this masterpiece? 📚

Man of Shadow & Mist @michellegriep

What I loved: Everything!
The characters, their growth & development, the themes, the faith elements, the romance, the gothic atmosphere, the plot, the humor, the historical setting, and the writing style. 💕

✝️ The faith elements woven naturally into the story were so beautiful & inspiring. The rector Mr. Austen is now my favorite literary clergyman ever.

❤️The romance. Wow. Just wow. 🥵🫠

➡️ If you didn’t read Dracula because it sounded too creepy or you don’t like supernatural/paranormal elements, I highly recommend this book instead.

➡️ If you did enjoy Dracula, you’ll love the references woven throughout the tale. I especially loved the quotes from Dracula at the beginning of each chapter that perfectly related to the Man of Shadow & Mist plot.

🪦 In terms of gothic vibes, this is on par with Jane Eyre.

This clever, creative, cozy, and slightly satirical Regency series of novellas features a charming array of humans and their ghostly companions.

Mercury Raine by @sarah_m_eden

Sarah M. Eden has created the most delightful regency world in which some people are born with ghostly attachments. Different personalities of ghosts are more or less “in fashion” in society, so ghost-brokers help people swap for more “fashionable” ghosts to boost social standing. Enter Mercury Raine - the ghost broker.

This paranormal series is not creepy in the least. The ghosts are just like any other human characters, with a variety of charming and heart-warming personalities. They dance, they play croquet, and they just also happen to walk through walls. Each has special integral traits that make them a little more like a caricature. I definitely have several favorite spectral characters - they are just so charming and sometimes downright adorable. And often hilarious… even if they don’t mean to be.

These aren’t gothic ghosts that haunt humans - these are gentile ghosts with manners befitting a Regency ball. Even if some would rather stay home and read than socialize at a ball.

And there is a touch of romance… very, very, very slow burn. It is genuinely the sweetest and very rated G.

This series is family friendly, humorous, & heart-warming.

Plus, they have the best audiobooks I’ve ever heard. Ever. Narrated by @jakestormoen
