For 60 years, Southern Living @southernlivingmag has chronicled the South’s great pitmasters. This year, contributing barbecue editor Robert Moss @robertfmoss posed a bigger question: who are the Pitmasters people will still be talking about 60 years from now? He named five.

The same generation following in the footsteps of Aaron Franklin, Rodney Scott, and Sam Jones, the pitmasters who revitalized Southern barbecue in the 2000s.

On Sunday, September 20th 11am - 2pm all five of Moss’s picks are cooking together for the first time.

One of the signature experiences on our upcoming Southern Smoke Meets Irish Soul journey with @sweetlewsbbq is an unforgettable visit to the legendary @tullamoredew Distillery.

We'll enjoy an intimate, behind-the-scenes tour that takes us well beyond what most visitors ever get to see. While some of the areas are off-limits to photography, that's part of what makes this experience so special. We'll explore the working distillery, sample exceptional Irish whiskey, and even take part in a hands-on Irish coffee class that will have you making the perfect pour like a local. The distillery's guided experience also includes exclusive access to production areas and whiskey tastings that aren't part of a typical sightseeing stop.

Southern Living’s Food & Fire lineup is LIT! Help us welcome Lewis Donald of @sweetlewsbb, representing from Charlotte, NC! This year we asked the attending chefs some speed round questions and in true blue BBQ fashion when asked “If you had to cook one dish to represent the South to someone who’s never been, what would it be?” His words- “Whole Hog.”

Lewis Donald is the pitmaster and owner of Sweet Lew’s BBQ, one of Charlotte’s best local barbecue spots. Growing up outside Cleveland, Ohio, he learned his earliest lessons about food from his grandfather Ray. After graduating from the culinary apprenticeship at The Greenbrier, Lewis
went on to work at prestigious country clubs and kitchens across six states.

Today he brings those experiences to Sweet Lew’s, where he serves traditional Carolina barbecue cooked entirely over wood and honors the craft and tradition of real Southern barbecue.

One of my favorite parts of what I get to do isn't just taking people on incredible trips... it's getting to share those trips with people before we ever board the plane.

🎶 Finishing the evenings exactly the way they should be... in cozy pubs filled with live music, laughter, and maybe one more pint than you planned.
