Second time’s the charm, so naturally anything goes.

Electric Cinema Club screens Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990) on Thursday, October 15th at 7PM.

This month’s conversation is all about sequels that dared to outdo their predecessors. From Mad Max 2 (1981) and Evil Dead II (1987), to Terminator 2 (1991) and Babe 2: Pig in the City (1998), we’ll cover second acts that refused to behave.

Book in on OpenTable and follow @electric.cinema.club for everything you'll want to know before the lights go down. Limited seats available. by @sweetlorettabar

You sexy thing.

Errol Brown wrote Hot Chocolate’s defining 1975 hit about his wife, Ginette. A rare turn toward joy from a songwriter better known for heartbreak. Despite its initial release as a B-side, one chance flip by an American DJ helped turn the flirtatious Disco cut into a dancefloor mainstay.

Our namesake cocktail pours the same dose of inspiration: Greek yogurt-infused vodka, vanilla liqueur, passion tea, and lemon. You’ll believe in miracles. by @sweetlorettabar

@blackbyrdcalgary presents @beltlinerecordclub on Sunday, September 27 at 7PM.

BRC 041 explores the world of the inimitable Frank Ocean, an artist whose music has always felt a little out of reach, a little ahead of its time, and deeply personal.

From the hazy intimacy of 'Nostalgia, Ultra' and genre-blurring ambition of 'Channel Orange,' to the sparse introspection of 'Blonde,' join Troy for an evening tracing the records, stories, and influences that shaped Frank Ocean into one of the defining artists of his generation.
