The Tiger Rockfish can live to over 100 years old, grow to 24” in length and weigh over 7 lbs.

They are found from Kodiak Island, AK to Northern California and live most comfortably at depths of 90’ to 900’ in almost complete darkness. They prefer a highly complex rocky habitat.

These fish feed on small crustaceans, crab, shrimp and small fish. They can be caught on, squid, sand worms, small crab , soft plastics and many different artificial fly patterns. This one was taken on an orange and yellow shrimp fly pattern off the coast of Charleston, OR in around 330’ of water.

The American Shad was first introduced to the west in 1871. They spend most of their lives at sea and return to freshwater rivers and streams to spawn in the Spring and early Summer.

On the West coast they can be found from Newfoundland and Labrador all the way down to Baja California, Mexico.

American Shad are plankton eaters and can be caught on a variety of small lures and flies. They can be targeted with a dead drifted, swung or varied retrieve presentation. This one was caught dead drifting a balanced leech fly under an indicator on the Umpqua river.

Get ready they’ll be in the rivers before you know it.

The Canary Rockfish can grow up to 30” and live to almost 80 years old. They can be found from the Pribilof islands of the Bering Sea down to northern Baja California.

Adults can most commonly be found from depths of 250’ to 650’ but have been known to live in depths as deep as 2500’.

The Canary Rockfish can be caught on a variety of different baits, lures and flies imitating baitfish, squid and other shrimp like organisms. This one was caught on a yellow and orange shrimp fly pattern while targeting Ling Cod.

The Yellowtail Rockfish can grow up to 26” and can live in depths from the surface all the way down to 1800’. They can be found from Alaska to Baja California and can live for upwards of 60 years.

The Yellowtail rockfish can be caught on a variety of different baits, lures and flies imitating baitfish, squid and other shrimp like organisms. This one was taken on a yellow and white shrimp fly pattern.

Well it’s been a good month of a project but the boat is finally all cleaned up with fresh paint, new wrap, new top and lots of sanding. It’s always nice to pull the boat into a warm shop and be able to work on it. Big thanks to the sponsors that helped with the cost and the man power.
