Attending the 55th ALC hosted by the CBC in DC as a panelist advocating & sharing my experiences on living with Sickle Cell and the importance of accessible healthcare and the benefits of having trained healthcare professionals who understand just how beneficial it is for them to see us beyond any stigma or prejudice that unfortunately still exist.

Being an advocate is always going to be a passion of mine, and God blessing me with the opportunity to not only reconnect with my former doctor Mandy after yearsss ... to her reaching out to me about this opportunity is the biggest blessing and honor.
I can’t wait to share footage of the discussion because it was a great conversation and one that was much needed ☺️☺️

Just admiring the natural hair journey that 20 year old me never thought she’d be doing. Thankful I have an amazing Sensei who has been teaching me the ways. Trip to the DR photo dump!! 🇩🇴

Honored to have been invited to join a panel of advocates who like myself are living with Sickle Cell. We were joined by first year medical students who were thinking of making Johns Hopkins their university home.

It was amazing to tell some of my story, listen to my peers experiences, answer questions about how to improve care for Sickle Cell patients, and speak to the future doctors while also thanking them for being open to listening.

Grateful to be able to lend my voice and share my experiences with the hopes of improving how doctors (especially the new ones with no preconceived biases/beliefs) treat patients with Sickle Cell!
