Ethos: the distinguishing character, sentiment, moral nature, or guiding beliefs of a person, group, or institution. My time at SIUC is coming to an end and I can say is it has definitely been a challenge. But with the guidance of some truly excellent professors who are beyond passionate about their craft, and frankly an absurd amount of help from my peers, I made it through and can absolutely say my MFA thesis exhibition ‘Ethos’ is something I’m truly proud of. Thank you to my committee members and professors @jiyong_lee @rshotforged @antoniojacobmartinez You three were unbelievably patient and informative, and each of your passion’s for your craft is an inspiration. @katsudon55 and @jjjartworks no words can describe how appreciative I am for all the late nights, heavy lifting, random favors, and reassurance. I couldn’t have done it without you. #glass #art glassblowing #fabrication #metal #mfa by @swell_mell

Bear was my dog for half of his life. He was my best buddy. It sounds silly but there were points where he was the only thing that kept me going. During some of my lowest lows he helped me through. He was a big love bug and the best companion. We don’t deserve dogs. I sure as hell didn’t deserve such a sweet boy like Bear. He was truly the best and if you got to meet him you’d agree. I love you bear dog. I hope you know that. See you some day. by @swell_mell

Glass bludgeon. This thing has some weight behind it. First one I’ve coldworked and done alterations to using the cutting lathe. There’s definitely a learning curve. #glassweapon #glass #glassart #medieval #medievalweapons #onetimeuse #glassblowing #sculpture #artofinstagram #beer #whackinstick #notamaritalaide by @swell_mell

Sometimes you just have to cruise through Alaska with your mom and aunt, eat bandaid flavored jellybeans, drink duck farts, watch whales, go kayaking and bark at Alaskan marmots. I’m a lucky guy.#mom #auntybarb #alaska #duckfart #whales by @swell_mell
