So honored to have worked on the Blenders Eyewear - Snow project. Creative Director: @terrysnydercreative DP: @madisondyer Editor: @swingonaset I chose to edit in Davinci Resolve for this project because the footage was all RED RAW. I am always amazed how much I have to jump into Fusion, even for small details like adding the “be seen. Be loud.” Text to the glitch transitions. @mralextech had a great glitch transition tutorial that also really helped. This is my first release as a full time freelancer. I was so fortunate that the //Blenders team gave me so much room to be creative and flow with the edit. taken in San Diego, California by @swingonaset

I now get to share some of my favorite shots that didn’t make the final cut. The full video can be found on the @vessel YouTube channel. It’s always a tough call to choose the right shots for the story and not prioritize shots that I personally like. But that is the job. I really enjoy using the @osmo_global Nano camera. The complete video edit was due the morning after I shot the conference. But I couldn't help myself when it came to creating a custom logo animation. It took an extra 2 hours, but I feel like it was worth it. Either way, it was a good deep dive into particle systems in After Effects. #aftereffects #motiongraphics #logoanimation by @swingonaset

Most people don't understand that editing something that I has a slow pace is much more difficult than editing something that is high intensity. These projects push me to go beyond fast cuts into something deeper. To focus on framing, color, and story to draw the viewer through the video. It's very fun. I am trying to do more personal projects. This means having the idea, executing the shoot, and then diving into the edit. This @drinkhalfday spec ad had been rolling around in my head for a while. I am very happy with how it came out! The specific challenge that I wanted to give myself in this ad was to use a single shot and create something interesting and worth watching. So I used my @brightin.star 60mm Macro lens, an @duclusduclus light box, and a cheap turntable from amazon to get one shot. After that, it was down to stabilizing and cutting out the can from the background. Yes, the shot could be better. I didn't come up with the colored background ideas until I spent more time looking at Halfday's branding. So realistically, I could have used several shots on different backgrounds. But all in all, I am actually pretty happy with this one - which I cannot often say about ads where I am the cinematographer! #premierepro #aftereffects #macrovideo #productvideography #sonyalpha #cinematography #60mmmacro taken in San Diego, California by @swingonaset

A few weeks ago, I posted part 1 of this video. Check that out if you haven't seen it. This part of the video was all about the ramp up to reveal the client's give away. The goal was still to build that visual relationship between excellence on the field and excellence in work! Because of this, "customer avatar" shots were interspersed with on the field footage and all of was cut to maybe the greatest silver screen football speech... HDR Photography has to be one of the great inventions of our time. The ability to add extensive dynamic range so that so much detail is visible in the highlights and shadows is amazing! Especially when it comes to real estate photography. Even more so when you consider drones have such small sensors sizes and have to process all that data before the drone moves so that the images overlap perfectly! @djiglobal makes incredible sensors! taken in Escondido, California by @swingonaset

Beyond video editing, I am also a drone pilot. When the opportunity presents itself, I enjoy getting and and trying to create something artistic and visually appealing from any shoot that I am on. Drone footage can be a pain to work with because it can break so easily. But with some ND filters and pre-planning, its easy enough to get some stellar results. Enjoy this quick edit from a drone shoot last year. Fun project. 10/10 would do it again! taken in San Diego, California by @swingonaset

Some color work from a recent project with @vesselgolf. The goal was to create a moody warm environment. Something reminiscent of Christmas morning by the fire (which makes sense because this is a Christmas ad!) it was fun to get to push the colors more than I normally would in order to create this look. As an editor I get varied requests for different videos. This is one that sticks out to me. Combining great speeches from Vince Lombardi, playoff footage sorced from YouTube, and stock images that represent the client's ideal customer "avatar" was certainly a unique challenge. The idea was to draw a relationship between the excellence that every NFL player strives for and the excellence that the customer"avatar" exemplifies. This single video has 3 parts and this is just the first one. I had to cut this down to fit within the 90sec upload limit for reels. Should I upload parts 2 and 3?
