received 2.14.22 • if u r reading this you are my valentine xoxo

call/text 404-919-9481

Call transcript:
“Hi. So, I’m going to read a diary entry that is about my biggest crush of my early-twenties life. Um, it is dated September 27th, 2016, and it just says:
‘Last night I lit a cigarette for [redacted].’
So,
Happy Valentine’s Day!” by @switchboard_atl

received 2.8.22 • journal entry from anon. ty for sharing 💛
I had trouble transcribing a couple of the phrases in the middle of the message, if u heard something different let me know.

call/text about your journal entries, v*day, love (or lack thereof) 404-819-9481

Message transcription:
“Alright um, this is one of my journal entries from a couple of years ago when I first moved to Atlanta. Uh, it’s not dated but I kinda know when it’s from.
‘Do I need to be irreparable in order to be creative?
Why is it easier to express myself through pain and heartache?
Here are all the pieces of me.
Why can’t I also be a picture of who I am instead of piles, broken fragments
Is that up to me?
So I paint my own portrait.
Don’t be afraid, be alive.
Feel everything.
Don’t apologize for not fitting the mold, whatever the fuck that actually ends up being.
Pick up your feet, dust off your shoes, and get going.’” by @switchboard_atl

here we are again. another wave of covid, in many ways worse than we’ve ever seen. sb started in part due to the intense isolation i felt during the first few months of the pandemic. the last few weeks have been hard for a lot of people. i’ve felt it too. it felt like an appropriate time to log back in and ask for more calls. you can call and tell us all about how you’ve dealt with the last few weeks. what your fears are. what you still have hope for. who you miss. what you miss. what brings you comfort right now. what’s changed. what hasn’t. talk to us like a close friend. tell us whatever you feel like. talk to us like we’re there with you too.

thanks to everyone that’s called in, everyone who will, everyone who listens. lots of love to all of you.

received 11.17.21 • thank you so much for sharing. no one should ever have to feel like this. i have experienced sexism in a past job and very aggressively in a job interview several years ago. like anon says, it doesn’t feel good.

if you feel like it, you can share your thoughts and experiences in the comments or in a call/text to 404-919-9481 by @switchboard_atl

received 11.15.21 • anonymous on remote work. poor audio quality in the second half of the clip because that’s how phone calls work sometimes. i cleaned it up a little bit but I’m no audio wizard.

feel free to drop your takes on working during a pandemic, hot or not, below in the chat.

received 10.12.21 • seeking advice.

the advice-giving will be a community effort (drop wisdom in the comments), but i think if you keep having conversations about how you feel and there isn’t effort to change how the friendship is working, you reserve the right to change the nature of your relationship with this person. you can end it altogether, or take a step back and slide closer to the acquaintance side of the spectrum than close friend. thoughts?
