Switch Modern is delighted to be a sponsor and lender to Museum of Design Atlanta’s (MODA) new exhibition, Please Be Seated. This exhibition loosely explores seating design over the past 100+ years with designs that illustrate many of the salient design movements within the 20th century that were informed by new materials and new technologies including Vienna Secession, International Style, Organic Design, Pop/Radical Design, Minimalism/Neo Bauhaus along with Post Modernism and the associated Pluralism and Derivatism of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Plan on seeing this exhibition and plug into one of MODA’s excellent tours. #switchmodern #modatl #verpan #moooi #driade #walterknoll #kartelldesign #paolalenti #wittmann_official #poliform_official #zanotta #classicon by @switchmodern

Tom Dixon’s Melt range of lighting just keeps getting better and better! The recently added Melt Cone Slim floor lamp celebrates the much-loved Melt aesthetic by placing the large Melt diffuser atop a thin cylindrical support that culminates in a conical base. We’ve paired the example in Switch Modern’s showroom with the Lima lounge chair by Tacchini and a Draenert Mortimer small table. The artwork is courtesy of Scott Ingram. #switchmodern #tomdixon #tomdixonmeltlight #tacchini #draenert #scottingramart by @switchmodern

Linear, gridded, and JUST fabulous! Part of the Quaderna range of furniture designed by radical design Superstudio in 1970 and produced by Zanotta, Italy. The range features dining and coffee tables as well as a console and a bench. Noted here is a recent arrival to the Switch Modern showroom - a desk that features a concealed slender drawer that is essentially “camouflaged” on the underside of the surface. Quaderna’s linear form is paired with Tom Dixon’s Fat chair with its curved and thick cylindrical elements. #switchmodern #zanotta #zanottafurniture #radicaldesign #quaderna #superstudiodesign #tomdixon by @switchmodern

Superstudio was part of Italy’s Radical Design Movement in the 1960s and 1970s - its designs were included in MOMA’s 1972 landmark exhibition, Italy: The New Domestic Landscape. One of its best known designs is the Misura laminate that was created by Abet Laminati in 1970 for the furniture produced by Zanotta. This simple, mesmerizing pattern features a grid based upon the repetition of a square that measures 3 centimeters. #switchmodern #zanotta #zanottafurniture #superstudiodesign #quaderna #radicaldesign by @switchmodern

David Trubridge’s Navicula suspension light features a mesmerizing sculptural form composed of computer-controlled cut bamboo. This award-wirnning New Zealand designer was inspired by the shape of Navicula algae that is responsible for nearly 25% of the oxygen in Earth’s biosphere. Navicula was just installed in our showroom; drop by to experience this engaging design. #switchmodern #davidtrubridge #davidtrubridgelighting #naviculalight #contemporarylighting #modernlighting by @switchmodern

We absolutely LOVE Scott Ingram’s “Danglers” installation in our showroom. Colorful strap vertically bisects a group of cinder blocks that each cant in different directions seemingly defying gravity. The strap puddles on the floor in varying degrees (or not at all). Please drop by the showroom to not only check out these pieces but the nearly 30 other pieces that are currently on display. #switchmodern #scottingramart by @switchmodern

Draenert’s stone-top dining tables are extraordinary. The range of available aesthetic options is vast - indeed, the stone slabs are sourced from all over the world. The engineering involved in turning these into extension tables are sheer feats of engineering! We have three different extension tables from this German manufacturer in our Atlanta showroom - drop by to check these out.

Bocci's 22 series of outlets challenges the traditional ubiquitous cover plate concept. Designed to "mud" directly into drywall without a visible cover plate or trim it may also be set flush into millwork, stone, tile, glass, or any other wall surface. #switchmodern #bocci #22system by @switchmodern
