Earlier this summer Elliot and I traveled to NYC. He asked to visit the 9/11 memorial. The tragic events of that day happened 9 years before Elliot was born. We happened upon the Survivor Tree, a Callery pear tree that was discovered amongst the ruins, and later sent to a rehabilitation center in the Bronx. It was replanted at the memorial site on In 2010, the summer Elliot was born. It represents the best of America, resilience, strength, and purpose. Hope for the future exists within us all. On the heels of Beckett leaving for France, Elliot and I took an impromptu trip to my favorite city to celebrate the eve of his 16th birthday. It was the finest 48 hours. Much better than labor, for sure. taken in New York Public Library by @swolding

Beckett goes to Bordeaux! The culmination of 5-years of French immersion resulting in a 13 days trip to experience school, community and culture in France. “Howdy, Sue!” “Hey, Gram!” What a privilege to have had your love for over 50 years. Thank you for all the “talks” and never a cross word except the time Naomi and I “got into” your makeup bag. Even with such a large family of 5 kids, 13 grands, and 30 great grands, you always managed to give laser focus, time and attention to us all.
