If your first step isn’t explosive, moving your feet faster isn’t going to fix it❌ You need to be able to produce high levels of force quickly, especially from static and split-stance positions. These are my top 5 exercises for developing first-step explosiveness: • Dead-Stop Zercher Split Squat - Builds unilateral starting strength by forcing you to overcome inertia and produce force without relying heavily on momentum or a countermovement✅ • SS Stomp Knee Drive - Develops aggressive ground contact, hip projection, and the ability to rapidly transition force through a powerful knee drive✅ • BB OH Press Box Split Jerk - Trains explosive triple extension and rapid force production while transitioning into an athletic split position✅ • Banded RFESS Pulses/Jumps - Develops reactive strength by challenging you to absorb force and quickly reverse from eccentric loading into an explosive takeoff✅ • Seated BB Pop-Ups - Develops starting strength and rate of force development by producing explosive movement from a seated, near-static position✅ The first few steps of acceleration happen FAST. That means it’s not enough to simply be strong. You need to produce force quickly, project it effectively, and coordinate that force through positions that actually transfer to acceleration. These exercises build those physical qualities. But remember, the weight room supports speed. It doesn’t replace sprinting. If you want to get faster, you still have to sprint. Build the force. Apply it fast. Then put it into the ground. And recovery matters too. That’s why I use Swole As Buck Gummies daily. 5g of creatine monohydrate without powders, shaker bottles, or mixing. If you’ve had knee surgery, getting back to full strength isn’t just about moving more weight. You need to rebuild your ability to produce force and own positions around the knee. These are my top 5 isometrics for building stronger, more durable knees. • Heel-Elevated KB Wall Sit - quad strength and knee-specific loading✅ • KB RDL Iso Hold - hamstring strength, hip stability, and posterior-chain control✅ • Banded Split Squat Iso Hold - single-leg strength, stability, and positional control✅ • SL Leg Extension Iso Hold - isolated quad strength and knee-extension capacity✅ • SL Bent-Knee Calf Iso Hold - soleus strength, ankle stability, and lower-leg capacity✅ Isometrics allow you to create high levels of muscular tension without constantly moving through the joint. For athletes returning from knee surgery, they can be a valuable tool for rebuilding strength at specific joint angles, improving positional control, and gradually restoring the ability to produce force. But knee surgery isn’t one-size-fits-all. Your exercise selection and loading should match your stage of recovery and be cleared by your medical or rehab professional. Build strength. Own the position. Then earn your way back to explosiveness. And recovery matters too. Most athletes WANT to be explosive✅ But explosiveness isn’t just about how high you can jump❌ These are my top 5 exercises to build scary lower body explosiveness. • Weighted Pogos - ankle stiffness, reactive strength, and rapid ground contacts✅ • Single-Leg Depth Drops - unilateral force absorption, stability, and reactive strength✅ • Banded Eccentric Split Squats - eccentric control, single-leg strength, and explosive force production✅ • Banded Eccentric RDLs - posterior-chain strength, stability, and eccentric control✅ • Banded Copenhagen Planks - adductor strength, hip stability, and lower-body durability✅ Building an explosive athlete requires more than just producing force. You need to be able to absorb force, control it, and then produce it again FAST. That’s what allows you to sprint faster, jump higher, change direction harder, and stay explosive in unpredictable positions. Absorb force. Control it. Produce it FAST. And recovery matters too. That’s why I use Swole As Buck Gummies daily. 5g of creatine monohydrate without powders, shaker bottles, or mixing. Most athletes think jumping is just jumping. But these two jumps can train completely different sides of explosiveness. Resisted vs. Assisted Jumps. Here’s the difference. • Resisted Jumps - add load and increase the force demand. The athlete has to produce more force to get off the ground. • Assisted Jumps - unload the athlete and allow them to move at higher velocities than they normally experience at bodyweight. So which one actually makes you more explosive? It depends on what you’re missing. If you’re naturally quick and reactive but struggle to produce enough force, resisted jumps can help attack the force side of the force-velocity relationship. If you’re strong but struggle to express that strength quickly, assisted jumps can expose you to higher movement velocities. That’s why blindly copying someone else’s jump training doesn’t always work. Two athletes can have the same goal and need completely different stimuli to get there. Don’t just jump more. Train the quality you’re actually missing. And recovery matters too. That’s why I use Swole As Buck Gummies daily. 5g of creatine monohydrate without powders, shaker bottles, or mixing. EVERYONE wants to be explosive… But explosiveness isn’t built by just jumping more or lifting heavier❌ These are my top 5 exercises to build explosive speed and power… • Pogo Jumps - ankle stiffness, reactive strength, and quick ground contacts✅ • Kneeling to Vertical Jumps - explosive force production without relying on a countermovement✅ • Hang High Pull to Hang Clean - rapid force production and total-body power✅ • Consecutive Broad Jumps - horizontal force production and repeated explosiveness✅ • KB Absorption Lunges - eccentric control, force absorption, and single-leg stability✅ Bonus: Alt. SL Step-Up Jumps - unilateral power, coordination, and explosive hip extension✅ Being explosive isn’t just about how much force you can produce. It’s about how quickly you can produce it, how well you can absorb it, and how efficiently you can redirect it. That’s what carries over to accelerating faster, jumping higher, changing direction, and becoming more explosive in your sport. Produce force. Produce it fast. Control it. And recovery matters too. That’s why I use Swole As Buck Gummies daily. 5g of creatine monohydrate without powders, shaker bottles, or mixing. Most athletes DON’T plyometrics correctly... Because MOST aren’t getting everything they should out of them. These are 5 plyometric exercises I’d use to build a more explosive athlete. • Alternating Box Jumps – unilateral power, coordination, and rapid force production✅ • Single-Leg Depth Drops – single-leg force absorption, stability, and deceleration✅ • Kneeling Lateral Box Jumps – lateral explosiveness, hip power, and change-of-direction ability✅ • Depth Double Jumps – reactive strength, elastic power, and quick ground contacts✅ • Eccentric Split Jumps – unilateral force absorption, control, and explosive power✅ Jumping higher is only part of being explosive. Athletes have to produce force, absorb force, and redirect it quickly in multiple directions. That’s what carries over to sprinting faster, jumping higher, cutting harder, and reacting at game speed. Don’t just train to jump. Train to be explosive. Train power. Train control. Train athleticism. And recovery matters too. That’s why I use Swole As Buck Gummies daily 5g of creatine monohydrate without powders, shaker bottles, or mixing. Most athletes train strength. Very few train to express that strength fast. These are my top 5 explosive strength exercises for athletes. • Pinned BB Squats – concentric force production and starting strength • DB Depth Drop Jumps – force absorption, reactive strength, and vertical power • Snatch Pulls – explosive triple extension and total-body power • Band-Assisted Jumps – jump speed, stiffness, and rapid force production • Dumbbell Split-Stance Drops – unilateral stability, deceleration, and force absorption Bonus: Alternating Split Jumps – reactive single-leg power and coordination Explosive strength is more than lifting heavy. It’s about how quickly you can absorb force, redirect it, and produce force again. That’s what carries over to sprinting, jumping, cutting, and competing at speed. Train strength. Train speed. Train them together. And recovery matters too. That’s why I use Swole As Buck Gummies daily 5g of creatine monohydrate without powders, shaker bottles, or mixing.
