i won’t mince my words - 28 women have been killed this year at the hands of men. last year it was over 30 women (an increase of 30% from the previous year). these women were mums, aunties, daughters, sisters and friends. the afl’s initiative to stand side by side might seem tokenistic but it starts off a bigger conversation that we need to have. as men, as brothers, as dads, as uncles, as grandfathers, we have a responsibility to be better and understand what women go through each and every day. how they need to time their morning runs, walk home with keys inbetween their knuckles. imagine living in constant fear?

this is a cause i hold so close to my fucking heart. i’ve seen close friends and family go through domestic violence and it truly is heartbreaking. we need to educate our sons. we need to do better. staying silent means being complicit. if you see something, fucking say something by @swoopluke
