A custom set of red/orange Rosarita and Sterling studs accompanying me to the @murphyspark_farmersmarket this Sunday.

This pair is spoken for (no shock there!) but there are still plenty of silver, copper, and even a few brass beauties looking for their forever homes.

I'll also have a few items of the planty persuasion available in my booth in addition to my normal jewelry offerings this week. Even if you don't plan on shopping PLEASE come down and check out the market. Live music, yoga instruction in the morning, nutrient dense locally grown produce, artisan goods and more await! The market runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Sunday from Memorial day (ish) to around Halloween in Murphys community park.

One of my favorite things about the metal arts community is just that: the sense of community. When I first dipped into the world of jewelry making I was stunned at how welcoming, kind, friendly, and generous the vast majority of artists were. There was, at least in my experience, no gatekeeping, no "figure it out yourself like we did" mentality; people were more than happy to extend a helping hand to somebody just getting started. A lot of those folks who helped me early on have become dear friends and I have been blown away by the generosity that has been extended to me.

@prospectingarizona is one of those incredible people. Earlier this year I broke a stone while I was setting it in a cuff, and Stacey immediately reached out to me and offered to cut me a custom stone to fit the bezel. Imagine my delight when she sent me not one but TWO of my very favorite materials to work with: rainbow petrified wood and Sonoran Sunrise. That little Sonoran cab is going to be all mine, but I'll be setting that gorgeous petrified wood into the cuff and offering it at the second Murphys Farmers Market of the season this coming Sunday, May 31st.

Thank you, Stacey, for your kindness, generosity, your willingness to chat all things "rocks" with me, and your passion for your trade. Your stones are some of the most beautiful material I've worked with and your love for your craft are evident in every piece I've received from you.

I was today years old when I learned that the substance I use to "antique" my metal jewelry pieces can go bad.

I've had this jar for probably 5 years now and I use it regularly. I went to patinate some rings over the weekend and was shocked when I opened it and found all the crystals to be dried up, discolored, and odorless. For those who aren't familiar, this stuff STINKS. I'm bummed I have to order a new jar before I can finish the next batch of jewelry I made, but I'm so grateful to be constantly learning about my craft.
