I had the immense privilege to join the Codarts Pop Orchestra with my song 'Black Oil' in de Doelen this year!! It's a memory I will never forget🤍

Thankyou @ronmegakool for making this beautiful arrangement and trusting me with my visuals and lights + having the great idea to stand in front of the pipe orgal ring!! (actually I'm standing on top of the organ btw...)

A big shout out to all the musicians for playing beautifully and making this arrangement possible together and trusting me with choices as well :)
And ofcourse all the technicians helping out this week!!

For my piano exam I asked @hugrunelfa if she wanted to play with me and create this stripped down version of my song 'from the foam'!

A little back story for the interested: This song is about the internalised misogyny a lot of women have where they need to put other women down to uphold their position in the patriarchal system for it’s rewards.
And I have to be honest that the internalised misogyny is in me as well and I've battling this since a grew out of my teenage years of wanting to fit in the system of male validation. I think a lot of women battle this.
It's in the lack of confidence I have in myself or the way I feel like I’m an imposter as an artist and producer. Or just the way I need to apologize for who I am and make myself smaller just because that is expected of me and that's how I'm supposed to act as it fits others expectations of me. Or just to not shave my legs or wash my hair or put on makeup for it is "gross" and "ugly" for women but normal for men.
It's also in the way people don't believe me in a discussion and the way I'm not taken seriously- in small things but also in big not okay things like consent no human should ever have to experience it’s lack of.

And not to let this all affect me and how it makes me think about myself.

That was my rant hope you liked it or can find yourself in it.

🚨new snack of the month alert🚨
The new record from @sy_ki__ called ‘The Warrior Princess of Mycenae’ takes the title 🏆

And I would argue that she not only created an album, but an entire world. Her music is described as Mytho Trip-Pop and that mythological part shines through her worldbuilding, both sonically and visually. And if you weren’t already impressed, she’s producing all her own tracks! This is a beautiful complex record that reveals sy-ki’s multidisciplinary artistry. Check it out! 🧚‍♂️🐉

The Warrior Princess of Mycenae. On a young age she was told she would slay a god. But not in the way she thought...

"The Warrior Princess of Mycenae" is now available on all streaming plaforms thanks to @makewaves.fm ⚖️

What does it mean to be a hero in our time? How can we fight Injustice without violence?

The world should belong to everyone, regardless of where you were born🕊

This music isn’t bound to any restrictions but I do love electronic weird sounds and drums and some choppy poppy poetic punk vocals! For this album I focussed on making all my own sound design for all synths + bass which I'm super proud of.

In een volgepakt Vessel 11 presenteert sy-ki haar tweede album ‘Amor Nocte’. De plaat is volledig in eigen beheer geproduceerd en gemasterd, wat haar status als groeiend, onafhankelijk DIY-multitalent binnen de alternatieve Rotterdamse popscene bevestigt.
