At the quantum scale, certainty dissolves.

A particle is never simply here or there.
Its reality exists as a field of possibilities until it is observed.

This sculpture asks a similar question.

From one position it appears dense.
From another it disappears into void.
Neither view is more truthful.
Each is only one state of the whole.

The reclaimed teak carries decades of growth rings—
a record of time written by nature.

The 3 mm steel bolts introduce another language:
precision,
measurement,
human intention.

One is organic probability.
The other is engineered certainty.

The sculpture lives where those worlds overlap.

It does not ask you to look at it.

It asks you to collapse its possibilities.

Every step you take becomes an observation.
Every observation creates a new sculpture.

Perhaps perspective is not changing the object.

Perhaps the observer is part of the work.

Nothing in this sculpture is trying to resist time.

The flowers will surrender.

The wood will darken.

The brass will soften.

Yet the relationship between them remains untouched.

Perhaps permanence was never found in materials.

Perhaps it lives in the invisible tension that binds opposites—
weight and lightness,
presence and memory,
what survives and what quietly disappears.

The sculpture is not asking to be understood.

Only witnessed.

The oldest shape in existence
isn’t the circle.

It’s the space the circle protects.

We spend our lives trying to fill every emptiness.
Nature does the opposite.

It carves.
It erodes.
It removes.

Until what remains feels inevitable.

This sculpture wasn’t designed around wood.

It was designed around absence.

Because sometimes,
what is missing
is the only thing that gives form its meaning.

Every object begins as a possibility.

Long before it becomes matter, it exists as potential—countless versions of itself waiting to emerge.

This sculpture lives in that threshold.

Its landscape is neither solid nor empty. Its folds are neither still nor moving. Between the voids and the grain, certainty dissolves, leaving only the quiet tension between what is seen and what remains unseen.

The more you move around it, the more it changes. Not because the sculpture moves, but because observation is never passive. Every perspective reveals another reality hidden within the same form.

Perhaps that’s what collecting art has always been.

Not acquiring an object.

But living with a question that never reaches a final answer.

A sculpture does not possess meaning.

It possesses potential.

Like light before it is measured,
it exists as many possibilities at once.

Every encounter collapses one of them.

The architect notices proportion.

The child discovers wonder.

The collector recognizes a future memory.

The sculpture remains unchanged.

The observer does not.

Perhaps that is what collecting has always been:

Not the acquisition of objects,

but the quiet evolution of the one who stands before them.

the invisible force that holds everything in place.

GANESHA

A prayer carved in teakwood.

Balanced in quiet suspension above a 600mm dia teak-25mm thick disc, the figure appears to float, supported only by a 2 mm brass line that almost disappears from view.

An object about weight becoming weightless.
About devotion becoming form.

Made to outlive trends.
Collected to outlive generations.
