Business and Personal.

For all those that attend, Howard is a personal matter. For few it becomes business.

To the preeminent brothers,

It’s hard to express the depth of my love for each of you. I want to start by saying thank you. You’ve been such an integral part of this experience. What a blessing it is to have and be a part of this brotherhood— to be inspired by and to serve the same people.

As I reflect I’m reminding of Ecclesiastes 3:1 “To everything, there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” I believe that God placed each of you in my life during my undergraduate season for a purpose. Your presence has made this journey all the more meaningful, and for that, I am profoundly grateful.

A word spoken by many, understood by few.
Phi Alpha Delta, I’m so glad I chose you.

Brotherly,

Sydney Forrest by @syd.forrest

IN·TER·DIS·CI·PLI·NAR·Y
(adj) relating to more than one branch of knowledge.

For four years, I was asked what that even means. What is Interdisciplinary Studies?
I know now it’s a work-study experience.

I came to Howard to earn a degree not knowing how I would learn how to think, how to question, how to grow into myself.

My parents always told me to “labor for learning.” Not just to study, but to seek, to stretch, to become. Howard gave me the space to do exactly that. The space to grow beyond just the first woman in my direct bloodline to have this kind of opportunity privilege. And eventually, I’ve learned the weight of that. Not just what it means for me, but what it carries for the women who came before me, and the ones who will come after.

There is nowhere else I could have gained this much, in this many ways, all at once.

Forever grateful to Howard.🎓
