Now that my undergrad years are all said and done I can confidently say that I am exactly who I think I am.

🪞 To the PREMIER Gamma Omicron Chapter: Thank you for giving me the chance to know what being an Alpha woman is truly about. For 76 years this chapter has led a legacy of phenomenal women that exude grace, poise, and elegance..principles I will always hold dear to my heart. There is no where else I’d rather be.

🪞 To my mama: Legacy is in my blood with Gamma Omicron’s name. It was you who paved the way to create this opportunity for me 31 years ago. You are my inspiration and it is an honor to follow in your footsteps with this very chapter. I love you.

🪞 P.1.N.K P.R.E.C.1.S.I.O.N: Those defiant ivies😂. I love yall and thank you for giving me a sisterhood. As for my linKs, Imani and Mariah, thank you for the laughs, the yaps, and always being there when I need you guys most. Continue to set the standard.

In an effort to highlight the people who are leading colleges and universities across the nation, we at Watch The Yard reached out to Tougaloo College (@tougaloocollege) and did an interview with Sydnee Thompson(@sydelisee), the 2024-2025 Student Government Association president.

The position of SGA president is a highly respected role, and there is a special pride in being elected by peers to lead. Thompson, who is majoring in Economics; Pre-Law Minor, is from Edwards, Mississippi. She is a proud Fall 2024 initiate of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

We interviewed Sydnee and talked to her about her position, goals, future, and what it means to hold this type of leadership position in 2024-2025.
