Syd Heather | Director Showreel 2025 Like many filmmakers, Iā€™ve wrestled with the challenge of compressing a decade of experience and different projects, styles, ideas into something cohesive, engaging, and true to my storytelling instincts... that also doesnā€™t bore you watching it! šŸ¤Æ For my latest directing showreel, I have intentionally leaned into a snapshot sizzle reel style to showcase versatility and experimentation - highlighting not just my visual style, but also the creative progression that has shaped my journey as a director (or co-director) so far. As I look ahead to 2025, Iā€™m eager to take on new directing opportunities. With my second feature documentary in post-production and several narrative features in development, Iā€™m ready to jump head-first into new creative projects with both regular collaborators and new connections. If this reel leaves you curious (or intrigued), Iā€™ve also put together a longer 10-minute version featuring full scenes and deeper storytelling - you can find it on lu website, link in bio. Iā€™d love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or just talk about all things directing! šŸ˜ #directing #showreel #filmmakingopportunities #creativity #2025goals by @sydheather

BEHIND THE BABY 1. Lead producer @sydheather keeping the cast in line and steering the good ship MAN BABY through the ongoing waters of pre-production, production, post, distribution and beyond. 2. Writer/Director @art_omnivores, like many of our wonderful crew, ending up as a Man Baby stand-in for some scenes. 3. @matteblacklondon providing valuable production support. You canā€™t schedule, sort kit and wrangle a fantastic camera/lighting team on an empty stomach at 2am. by @sydheather
As the dust settles after our @locolondon premiere, I naturally have some thoughtsā€¦ and a lot of BTS photos of my first produced feature. Firstly: we did it. We made a movie. Not only made it, but finished post, didnā€™t abandon it, and actually released it - to a real audience, in person. Both in the UK and Sweden (thanks @lundfantastic). Wow. Trust me, that is not always the case in todayā€™s filmmaking climate. Honestly, any film getting made is a miracle, but the odds are even more stacked when youā€™re fully independent yet that was always the road to take with @man_baby_movie. Man Baby is a wildly absurd comedy-horror about fatherhood anxiety - a bold, original and unapologetically bizarre debut feature from one of my oldest collaborator friends, writer/director (and father-of-two) Philip Hardy. It builds on years of making shorts together under @art_omnivores - subversive, smart and silly, all in one. Weā€™ve dubbed it Eraserhead with jokes - existential body horror, practical effects, the odd musical number, and a uniquely British perspective on becoming a dad. Itā€™s definitely a marmite film, but love it or not, I think anyone whoā€™s seen it would agree: itā€™s unlike anything else. Making the film exactly how we wanted, outside any system, has been tough, messy and rewarding. It gave Philip space to explore his own anxieties about fatherhood - and I genuinely believe a lot of people will find Man Baby funny, relatable, comfortingā€¦ maybe even disarming. Especially if it opens up conversations around anxiety, self-worth and parenthood. Iā€™m proud to help bring this vision to life. Itā€™s also a talking penis movie, so letā€™s not forget to laugh at the silly willy of it all. šŸ† For me, itā€™s proof that producing is learning by doing. Nobody has all the answers - you figure it out as you go - trust the process! Too many people to tag and Iā€™ll continue to thank you all when I see you, but a huge thanks to everyone who helped get this weird thing from script to screen. You truly made something one-of-a-kind. More screenings soon. Please see it in a cinema if you can. Digital release later. Proud producer here. X by @sydheather
ā WHAT A NIGHT!! ā Thank you to everyone who came to our UK PREMIERE of MAN BABY at @locolondon and @ritzy_cinema. Photos by the wonderful @harrysweeneyphoto We are beyond thrilled at the response we received - we canā€™t describe how amazing it feels to hear an audience laughing throughout your weird and wacky movie about a talking penis and a giant man baby! It feels great to FINALLY screen the film to a public audience and celebrate the hard work of all the cast and crew involved, even if not everyone could make it. Looking at you mostly @divianladwa (work commitments). Thank you to Hattie and Benedict for championing us and our work, and giving us the opportunity to open @locolondon as one of their first comedy features. What an honour! This is just the beginning - more screenings to come. So where should we play next? šŸ˜œ TAG AWAY. by @sydheather
