POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I’ve got some very happy news to share! My next book will be coming out in spring 2028!

BOTH SIDES OF GREYSTONE DRIVE is a dual POV historical middle grade novel told in both prose and verse. Set against the accelerating end of the Cold War in 1989, 12-year-old Anja longs for the life of freedom and self-determination she believes her best friend Lennan has in her "perfect" home, but discovers that things are not always as they appear.

Following in the footsteps of my other novels, this tackles “tough” topics with heart and hope. And, of course, includes animals. It explores themes of freedom, both within a family and within society; becoming the person you want to be, even if it means going against other people’s expectations; mental health; the power of friendship; and finding the courage to let someone know when things in your home are not okay.

I am so grateful to my amazing agent, @totally_anntastic , and I’m thrilled to continue working with my wonderful editor, @meg.gaertner , and the entire team at Jolly Fish.

What an amazing surprise to find my new book listed here among several of my all-time favorite books/authors! Please see the link in my bio if you'd like to check out the list--it's so important that kids see themselves and their families represented.

I’m so excited to announce @jollyfishpress has acquired @sydneydunlapwrites next project, a dual POV historical middle grade novel told in alternating prose and verse. Sydney is the expert when it comes to tackling tough themes in thoughtful, nuanced ways for a middle-grade audience, and her next book is no exception.

Set against the backdrop of the political and social changes taking place in Eastern Europe in the fall of 1989, BOTH SIDES OF GREYSTONE DRIVE explores themes of freedom, both within a family and within society; becoming the person you want to be, even if it means going against other people’s expectations; mental health; the power of friendship; and finding the courage to let someone know when things in your home are not okay.

Mark your calendars, because it’s coming out in Spring 2028! by @sydneydunlapwrites

Happy National Dog Day to all who celebrate! It is always dog day at our house! I’m happy to report that Barry and Lucy are both doing really well and are going to be fine. I wanted to include furry angels Lexie and Pippy too because they brought our family so much love for almost 17 years! ❤️ by @sydneydunlapwrites

It was a pleasure chatting with McCall Hoyle about her wonderful new middle grade novel, Nando! It is such a page-turner and so beautifully written and emotionally resonant.
