Sydney Schmidt gave up Florida State to sign her first pro contract at 17. Then she tore her ACL in her rookie season. She said “His plan is always greater than mine. Even when I don’t understand His timing I can still trust Him.” 🙏⚽
My identity is found in Christ. Not just in the sport I play.

This is definetly not how I imagined my rookie season to start out. It’s hard to put into words how disappointed I am about tearing my ACL, but at the same time I’m incredibly grateful. Grateful for this team, this club, and the people who have already supported me so much through one of the toughest moments of my life. Even in such a short time here, I’ve learned and grown more than I ever could’ve imagined. I've learned about resilience, perspective, patience, and what it truly means to be surrounded by the most amazing people. I know these kinds of injuries are never easy but I have full faith that this will make me stronger in so many ways. I know God’s plan is greater than my own, even when I don’t understand it in the moment. I trust He’s going to carry me through this next chapter. See you next season Courage country🤍 taken in Raleigh, North Carolina by @sydneyschmidt_14

I'm still trying to find the words for Saturday night. I am grateful beyond words to make my NWSL professional debut on 3-21-26 with this incredible club, team, and staff. This was truly a dream come true and a night that I will cherish forever. All glory to Him.

TYJ for the opportunity to have represented my country on the world stage. It hurts not to go all the way, but I'm endlessly proud of this team and everything we've done🇺🇸 taken in FIFA World Cup by @sydneyschmidt_14
