They say you don’t get to choose where you come from, but if I had to, I would choose Flint, Michigan, over and over again. Yes, Beecher! Because it made me everything I am today.

B’Day - 20th Anniversary

20 years ago, I sat in Sony Studios uploading the files for “Hollywood” straight out of my Korg Triton keyboard.

Guru, Jay-Z’s longtime engineer, kept asking me, “Man, you don’t have the session files on a drive?” Lol.

Anyway, not too long after that, completely unaware, I saw this glowing presence walk through the door… It was Beyoncé!

I introduced myself. She kindly greeted me back: “Hi, Syience. Nice to meet you.”

She then asked for the session files and walked out.

Afterward, I thought to myself, “Wow, I wonder what new song she’s cutting?”

Later, I thought I’d ask, “Hey, Guru, what song were those files for?”

Guru gave me the BIGGEST look of confusion and replied:

“Didn’t anyone tell you Beyoncé is jumping on the record with Jay?”

Beyoncé not only jumped on the record with Jay… she took it and made her own version.

And the rest is history!

Thank you, B. 🙏🏾 by @syience1
