We all need to take a moment to appreciate the little things in life. Inspiration comes in many forms but sometimes you don't need to go looking for it, you just need to slow down and see what is already there.

So much of my life is hectic at the moment and that has blocked my creativity. I want to write but real life issues are swirling around and stifling the flow of words. I'll get there, I know I will, but for now I'm soaking up the mindful moments until the fog clears.

I'm already counting down the weeks until next year's The Bushcraft Show 🌿 by @sylvafae

Barefoot and grounded! 🌿🦶
I've spent the last ten days camping, first at The Bushcraft Show then at Wild Festivals Group Ltd and I've been barefoot for the majority of the time. The feeling of the earth and grass beneath my feet has had a grounding effect. I've felt more relaxed, connected and free. Negotiating uneven ground has aided my balance and awareness and the swish of long grasses brushing against my legs has had a calming effect.

I'm sure there are sciencey people on here who could explain psychological and biomechanical benefits, but for me, it just felt right. Moreover, putting on shoes to go back into civilisation now feels restrictive and walking across flat tarmac feels very strange indeed. I shall endeavour to build barefoot nature walking into my day. by @sylvafae

Home from The Bushcraft Show and I can't begin to explain how amazing it was! What a show! This year was a little different for me, as I went as a guest rather than working on the Women in Bushcraft stall. It gave me the opportunity to amble round slowly and meet up with old friends for hugs and chats, and make some new friends.

Firstly, I want to thank my bushcraft buddy, Kerry Tillson. Kerry's kindness and support was what enabled me to be at the show this year (IYKYK). Absolutely loved meeting up with my partners-in-crime, Naomi Tayler, Julie Wright and Beccy Bassett. It was fabulous to meet up with Trevor Feral Stephens, Theresa Emmerich and Jacks Genega again - all awesome at what they do. The Bushcraft Show wouldn't be the same without my Naked and Afraid buddies - thank you to Jennifer Kelly and Ann Alford for your contribution to our stall. Sam Mouzer, Steven Kelly and Jamie Frizzell were actually quite well behaved this year, I think Iver Tronsmo Johnsen was a calming influence - lovely to meet you! Absolutely loved the panel with Naked and Afraid and Alone - you were all fabulous!

Thank you to all those who helped out on the Women in Bushcraft zone - Karen Price, Yara Ghrewati and Melanie Grenfell (thanks for the shower warning! 🥶) it's always a pleasure to see you. Eva Outram and Carleigh Fairchild I feel uplifted for having met you! Thank you also to Andrew Thomas Price's daughter Ruby for your contribution too.

So many other amazing people - too many to mention. A final thank you to David Thompson and his awesome team for running the best show ever! by @sylvafae

Waking up at The Bushcraft Show to this view. by @sylvafae

I appear to have lost Messenger! I can see I have notifications but not who they are from. If you are trying to message me, I'm not ignoring you.

Proud that my children have grown into those ones. 🌿 by @sylvafae

Go big or go beige?
I recently saw an article about women my age, you know, the invisible middle-age years of menopausal madness. It said we should either go big or go beige but I refuse to choose. There are advantages to both.

🌈GO BIG! - I've reached the age of not caring what others think. If I want to dye my hair purple, wear rainbow bright colours and floral boots, I'll stomp around town with the confidence of a teenager and dance to my own beat. Some days it's fun to 'go big' and I do it with gusto. Why save the posh frock for a special occasion? Why conform to being sensible and 'age-appropriate'?

🟫 GO BEIGE! - sounds like the boring option but there's a certain satisfaction to be had from being beige. And women my age are largely invisible, underestimated, ignored and forgotten. It's a superpower! We can get away with anything. We can lurk, people-watch, overhear fascinating conversations - perfect writing material. There's also a comfort in going beige - nobody notices when you pop across to the shops with no makeup, wearing Crocs and comfy pants, and I don't care anyway!

Big AND beige is the perfect combination. by @sylvafae

My Naked and Afraid buddies are back at The Bushcraft Show! Not only are they inspirational, knowledgeable and talented, with fascinating tales to tell, they are all truly lovely people too.

The Great British Treasure Hunt!
That was flipping hard work but got there in the end. Great fun!

Thank you The Royal Mint by @sylvafae

Are any of my friends playing the Royal Mint treasure hunt?
