POSTS STORIES REELS

“My introduction to the blues wasn’t through radio or a record player, it came to me on my grandmother’s front porch in the Mississippi Delta. As a young boy, I remember men sitting on that small porch, nursing jars of moonshine and coaxing sounds from old, beat-up guitars. The music felt raw, jagged, and heavy with melancholy.... It was the music of heartache and hope, all tangled together. The visceral nature of the blues is undeniable, and it has kept me in its spell ever since those days on that porch.” - @morganfreeman

Capping off an incredible year of symphonic blues performances, @keithprinceofthedeltablues leads us through B.B. King’s grooving classic “Why I Sing the Blues,” bringing the song’s honesty, soul, and energy to the stage.

A powerful reminder that sometimes, the blues gives us the words for what we’re already feeling.

What’s on your Halloween movie list?

It’s easy to see how deeply the blues’ history is woven into the fabric of Sinners, but did you know that Morgan Freeman’s Clarksdale venue served as inspiration for Club Juke? From locations, to soundtrack appearances and cameos, learn how the cast of Delta blues musicians who brought authenticity to #SinnersMovie are now breaking musical boundaries with Morgan Freeman’s Symphonic Blues Experience.

Clarksdale has always been more than a place on the map—it’s a place where music, faith, community, and tradition come together.

From one-room churches to juke joints and neighborhood gathering places, these spaces helped shape the cultural life of the Mississippi Delta and the music that emerged from it.

Written and performed by Miles Caton in Sinners, “I Lied to You,” brings that world to life on screen. On Morgan Freeman’s Symphonic Blues Experience, @keithprinceofthedeltablues offers his own powerful rendition of the song, carrying its spirit forward through the voice of the Delta.

Two interpretations. One enduring tradition from the new generation of blues voices.

Ground Zero Blues Club was founded in 2001 with the mission of creating a home for the music and culture of the Delta in its birthplace.

Today, Ground Zero stands as a living testament to the history of the blues, hosting musicians and fans from around the world, and creating space for the artists and stories shaping its future— many of whom serve as the very foundation for our Symphonic Blues Experience.

What happens when you put a blues band who don’t read from sheet music in front of a 69-piece orchestra?

That was one of the challenges—and the magic—behind the Symphonic Blues Experience. On the Go with Elmo podcast, Executive Producer Eric Meier explains how the team created a musical conversation between the raw, instinctive energy of the blues and the precision and grandeur of a full symphonic orchestra.

Two distinict musical languages. One unforgettable sound.

Getting the next generation of Memphis music into the legendary Royal Studios 🎶

The Stax Music Academy Choir brought some serious energy to the recording of “I’ll Take You There,” the Staples Singers classic, produced by Boo Mitchell.

There’s something pretty special about hearing these young voices in a room with so much history—and knowing they’re helping carry that Memphis sound forward.
