Traditional? Not quite…and that’s the point. For the couples who want something a little different, our guitar + strings ensemble brings the elegance of a string quartet with a more upbeat, modern feel that’s perfect for a fun cocktail hour.

27 years ago, I switched from violin to viola because I heard there would be less competition and better scholarship money. Once I felt the velvety embrace of a C string under my face, I knew that I could happily spend a million lifetimes doing this.

My first public performance on the old middle fiddle was at the 8th grade talent show where I played the 2nd movement of Telemann concerto. Right before going onstage in front of the whole school, I got the irresistible urge to troll so I dragged a chair out there and YOLO’d it upside down. Our orchestra director Karen Wills was on maternity leave so she wasn’t around to stop me 🤪

Making this switch was easily the best decision of my life and has led to full circle moments like two days ago when I shredded an entire Telemann Trio Sonata for viola, oboe, and continuo with some of the most wonderful Baroque players in front of two full congregations. Little scary; lots of fun.

Life is really good right now and I take none of it for granted.

P.S. Please come back from vacation Victor Ferroni and Olga Ferroni so I can return to the middle voice territory where there is slightly less pressure 👀🫠

Also thanks to Craig Uppercue for the candid rehearsal pics! by @symphonicunderground

Took a time warp back to the prohibition era as we tracked an entire big band album of original jazz by the incredible Allyson Briggs

Under the musical direction of Ross Kratter (who also masterfully crafted the charts) and alongside my brilliant comrades as well as a STACKED crew of local jazz A-listers, it was one of the most epic and efficient recording sessions I’ve ever had the joy of participating in.

Gratefully and gleefully checking another childhood fantasy off of the bucket list 🙏✅ taken in Phat Planet Studios by @symphonicunderground

This absolute classic works well for guest arrival, ceremony entrances or cocktail hour. It’s got pretty harmonic layers with a nice moving beat underneath. 💕🎶
