Syncopate Presents: Benny Ill (Horsepower Productions)

As summer ends, we're getting darker for our 2nd installment. We're honoured to be joined by Benny Ill for an extended set.

Through his work as part of Horsepower Productions, solo and other collaborations spanning UK Garage, Dubstep, Techno and more, he has has inspired a whole generation of producers and lovers of dark syncopated music, which is ever evolving. That reach can be seen with the current repress of the seminal Dub War - Murderous Style [Tempa] 12" 25 years after it's original release.

We look forward to you joining us on Saturday 31st October in the new Next Door Records 2 Red Room to hear the sounds of Benny Ill. Fresh off her Phonox debut, Bindās is a London-based multi-genre DJ focusing on global diasporic sounds - a reflection of her multicultural upbringing between Delhi, Zurich and London. She brings you sounds that range all the way from afro desi edits to house, batida, ukg, uk funky and more. Regardless of the route she chooses to traverse in a given set, her selection always centers a genre-defying groove and unexpected transitions that make you want to break out in dance (or at least a casual 2-step)

Alex, from Deep

Alex, from Deep brings a fluid and diverse DJ technique where he plays everything from UKG to disco, 90’s rave and soul, to dubstep and French house.

Steadily making a name for himself in the London underground scene, Alex loves nothing more than taking listeners on a journey, connecting them to the music through all kinds of genres, and pulling the rug from under their feet with an unexpected turn.

Heavily inspired by the likes of Jamie xx, Ben UFO, Soulwax, Four Tet, The Avalanches and Caribou, he brings a vast music appreciation guaranteed to connect with his crowd’s energy and where you never know what comes next.

Venues he’s played at recently include The Greyhound and Four Quarters in Peckham, Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes in Shoreditch, and The Star in Hackney Downs.

Ovrtic

Ovrtic is a London-based DJ and producer whose sound moves across UK garage, UK bass and leftfield club music, driven by swung, broken rhythms and layered with global influences. Vocal energy sits at the heart of his sound, shaping a dancefloor experience that balances movement and feeling. Debut releases are planned for early summer.

Active across grassroots spaces in East and South London, he supports emerging artists through his community-led events series, Cherry Jamz, and co-curates Syncopate Sound.

ARIA

ARIA is a DJ and producer rooted in the UK underground. His sets move across grime, garage, UK funky, dubstep and left-field bass

He first got behind the decks at 14, starting out on Stanton 150s and a job-lot of vinyl from eBay. His first significant club set came at Dingwalls in Camden as a teenager, followed by supporting Preditah and MC C4 at The Assembly in Leamington Spa. After a break of several years he returned as part of crew Surface, playing on lineups including UK bass legends Oneman and Paleman and has also shared bills with Sukh Knight, Scorcher and Manga Saint Hilare at a Kirbside event at The Orange Room in Stratford. He closed out 2025 supporting UK funky legend Crazy Cousinz at Brixton Jamm for Remember Them Days.

Influenced equally by the sounds coming out of London and the music of Brazil - where his family is from - his selections tend to reflect both.

Darama

One of the most distinctive voices in the UK underground, Darama’s percussive, South Asian-rooted take on bass and UK garage has turned him into one of the scene’s most sought-after selectors. A proud member of the Daytimers crew, his dubs speak for themselves, becoming staples across platforms such as Rinse, the BBC and Reprezent.

What excites us most is where his sound is heading, weaving RnB and UKG into something that feels entirely his own.
