Join my MM romance reading challenge on Storygraph

I recently shared a few posts with names of queer male authors who write MM romance. I figured let’s take it a step further and read their books!

There are 51 prompts, and each has an option to pick from two authors.

Why 51? Well, I originally had 50, but I miscounted while creating the prompts and ended up with 49. So I added the last one, then realized where I had miscounted and decided to keep the extra prompt. Whoops!

There is a time limit of this of 5 years, so you have plenty of time.

Enjoy!

Writing an Identity Not Your Own by Alex Temblador

This’ll be the first nonfiction book I’ll have read in a *VERY* long time.

But it’ll be worth it to be a better writer. Let’s sit in the discomfort together.

QOTD: what book made you a better writer? If you’re not a writer, what book changed your perspective on something?

Audiobook speed game part 2

We go from listening to the audiobook at 1.6x to 2x, and then back down to 1x just for fun to compare the two extremes we have so far.

Where was too fast for you? Or were you still following by the end?

Two times is my average listening speed.

Bonus question: Did you ever play red rover? Do kids even play it anymore?

A new audiobook has dropped!

When a new audiobook has finally been released and you kinda look forward to sitting in traffic to listen 😂

The audiobook this time?

Love Beneath the Guillotine by W. H. Lockwood
@w.h.lockwood.books

QOTD: what do you listen to in your car while sitting in traffic?

Blurb:
‘Desperate men have no morals...’

Léon Lyon: beautiful, beloved, broken. As premier executioner of Reims, he’s desired and feared in equal measure, a celebrity of the most dangerous kind, a symbol of justice and good citizenship in the explosive era of the French Revolution. But Léon has a secret. Each head he takes brings him one day closer to escape. He’s been saving every centime he’s ever earned, and any day now, he’ll leave town and rescue his little brother Émile from the same gruesome fate that has befallen him.

But all Léon’s plans are thrown into disarray when Émile is kidnapped by the dashing, dangerous, and despicable Henri De Villiers. At the mercy of a cruel and calculating (if handsome) blackmailer, Léon’s only chance to save his brother is to play the man’s wicked game.

Yet, as Léon is drawn deeper into Henri’s world, he begins to see a different side of him. Idealistic, passionate, willing to kill or die for those he loves, Henri might just be the escape Léon’s been searching for all these years.

But can Léon ever forgive Henri for what he’s done? And can either of them survive the mysterious supernatural force that seems to haunt their every move.

How fast can you listen to this audiobook?

I have about a minute and a half of an audiobook in the public domain (not free use 😅 heh my bad), and I up the speed from 1x to 1.5x every ten second or so.

Lemme know when is too fast or if you’re still with me by the end!

QOTD: how fast do you listen to audiobooks normally? Were you able to keep up to the end of the clip?

Devil’s Mark by Lark Taylor @larktaylorauthor
From @faecrate

This was the first book I read of Lark’s in the fictional world she created. So many books came after this, and I am so throughly invested in the stories in this world.

I love this series that follows the lives of the sons of Lucifer and how they fall in love and fight to keep their freedom.

Blurb:
Cal

I’ve never wanted a relationship—especially not with a human. With my father demanding my return to Hell and a demon leaving dead bodies in my bookshop, now is not the time to lose my heart. But one look in Oscar’s broken eyes, and I know I’m in trouble. Oscar’s been hurt before, and everything in me screams to keep him safe. How can I do that when I know being with me will only put him in more danger?

More importantly, am I strong enough to walk away from him?

Oscar

After escaping my last relationship with broken bones and an anxiety disorder, I’m tired of living half a life. My world revolves around my classroom, flat, and best friend. When fate throws Cal in my path, he seems too good to be true. He looks like he’s been pulled from my fantasies, and my baggage doesn’t scare him. Ok, so there’s the tiny issue of him being a demon, but I’ve dealt with far scarier.

I’ve been broken once before, and I don’t think I’d survive it again. Can I let down my barriers enough to let Cal in?

MateHub: Legend by Marie Reynard @marie__reynard
From That One Boy book box @thatoneboy.bookbox

Soooo talking about collecting all the editions of this book—I got another one!!

I had to censor the naked hardcover, and how could I not use the art print of all of Marie’s characters?

I love how the fan forum is on the back of the dust jacket. I also love how the cover looks like a webpage. That’s so clever. Those little details make special editions extra special.
