Features solve one problem once.

Systems solve the same problem everywhere.

Features can be delivered fast, but systems are made to solve future problems and enable scaling.

Parameter Objects help you to simplify method signatures by grouping related data into a single object.

They make your code and APIs easier to read, harder to misuse, and more resilient to change.

Often overlooked or deemed unnecessary, this small design decision pays off as your codebase grows.

Prepared statements are the key defense against SQL injection.

They separate code from data, ensuring user input can’t alter the SQL structure.

Input validation adds another layer by ensuring only valid values are processed.

Always use prepared statements for user variables, and when possible, also for internal values, keeping your code safe, clean, and maintainable.

Sorting and Filtering in the backend is not an optimization detail, it is a design decision.

As soon as order affects pagination, consistency, performance or business meaning, it becomes part of the system’s truth.

Frontend Sorting and Filtering is about interaction, backend sorting is about guarantees.

Clear ownership of sorting and filtering logic leads to predictable APIs, scalable systems and fewer edge cases.

ACID and BASE describe two fundamentally different approaches to data consistency in database systems.

ACID prioritizes correctness and reliability for transactional workloads, while BASE favors availability and scalability in distributed environments. Understanding the tradeoffs helps in choosing the right model for a given system architecture.

What’s your preferred model when it comes to databases?

Different file formats solve different problems.

CSV focuses on simplicity and flat data exchange.
JSON balances readability and flexibility for modern systems.
XML prioritizes strict structure and clearly defined data contracts.

Choosing the right format depends on how much structure and validation your data requires.

The Law of Demeter encourages simple and clear object interactions.

By avoiding long chains, your code stays flexible and easier to maintain.

Focus on exposing what is necessary, not the internal structure.

Deployment strategies are less about tools and more about risk management.

Blue Green, Canary and Rolling all solve different problems depending on traffic, criticality and observability.

The key is not choosing one strategy, but knowing when to combine them for safe and predictable releases.

Test-Driven Development isn't about testing.
It's about designing software with intention.

TDD helps you catch bugs early, clarify requirements, and build systems you can confidently change later.

Not every line needs a test, but critical logic does.

Eventual consistency is one of the most misunderstood concepts in distributed systems.

It trades immediate correctness for availability, scalability and resilience.

Understanding when and why to use it is key to building systems that actually work at scale.

Save this if you design distributed systems.

Ever changed the way data is stored, only to have your code break?

The problem isn’t the data structure itself, it’s that your logic knows too much about it.

By encapsulating your data, you hide the implementation details and expose only the behavior that matters.

This way, you can switch data structures and change internal details without touching the rest of your code.

Zero Trust isn’t a product, it’s a mindset.
In a world of cloud apps, remote work, and constant breaches, trusting the network perimeter no longer works.

Swipe through to learn what Zero Trust really means and why you can not ignore it.
