Why are more people looking beyond retinol? 👀

Retinol is one of the most researched ingredients for addressing visible signs of skin ageing but it isn’t suitable for every skin type.
Its use can be associated with dryness, scaling, stinging and redness, particularly while the skin is adjusting.

So, what makes bakuchiol an interesting alternative? 🌿
Bakuchiol is a plant-derived compound found in the seeds of the babchi plant. Research has shown that it has retinoid-like effects in skin, while working differently from retinol.

In a 12-week randomised, double-blind studyinvolving 44 participants, comparing 0.5% bakuchiol with 0.5% retinol, both groups showed significant improvements in wrinkle surface area and hyperpigmentation, with no significant difference between the two. However, participants using retinol reported more scaling and stinging.
That’s why bakuchiol is being explored as a more tolerable alternative to retinol, particularly for those who find retinol difficult to use consistently.
