🦋This one is dedicated to anybody who feels a little blue around this time of year. As many of you may know, the holidays are the roughest part of the year for me. For most of my life the holidays were a magical time, my mom was the absolute best at making people feel special, reminding them that they matter, and just instilling an overall sense of warm and fuzzy-ness inside anyone she came in contact with. And this went tenfold during the holiday season. Since her passing, I spend most of the time trying to distract myself and just staying busy to keep my depression from taking over. Sometimes it’s something toxic like food, alcohol, or binging on video games. Whatever takes my mind off of the negativity. And sometimes it’s something healthy, like being creative, or sprucing up the space I’m in to feel better about my surroundings. This piece is a reminder that when I choose the latter, something beautiful can come out of it. And I hope I can continue to move in that direction and stay away from the unhealthy/toxic alternatives. So let this be a reminder to any of you other sad folk out there: try something different. At first you might not have the energy, or it might seem difficult. But if you put your mind to it, and put your heart in it, there is still so much beauty in this world and it comes from within. Never stop shining, no matter how much you hurt, and hold tight to those you love… You never know how long they’ll be in your life. I believe in you and you should too. “ shining bright despite the plight.” Is a lot more than just a catchphrase to me. Much love 💙
