Magneto was right.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

It has been a very long 2+ years. I broke my femur in 2021, right as the COVID vaccines were releasing and people were returning to some semblance of normal activities. I waited 36 hours in nonstop excruciating pain before they could perform surgery.

After surgery, a nurse noticed my low vitals and quickly acted to discover that I had developed two blood clots in that time, and they had traveled to my lungs. The blood thinners I had to go on immediately caused the not-yet fully closed surgery wound to leak blood (the pictures you see where my leg is ballooning up) into the protective seal as well as inside my leg. This necessitated a second surgery to drain that and re-seal to deal with the thinned out blood.

That delayed my recovery and physical therapy quite a bit, and I had to wait to get the third surgery to fully close the wound and remove the wound-vac. All told, I spent a full two weeks in the hospital, undergoing three procedures with no visitors allowed, since it was still peak-COVID times.

Since then I've struggled with recovery and PT (pics and story of getting my knee to bend again in the next post), and the metal in my leg was constantly irritating my muscles to the point of never allowing me to be fully without pain. I moved off of the crutches to one crutch within a month, then another month or so before transitioning to a cane.

But I wasn't able to fully move off the cane after that. I've had to walk with a cane for most of the past two years, and even with that was limited as to how much I could. I couldn't run or jump, and stairs really took a toll.

The docs needed my bone to heal and my leg to strengthen before okaying a fourth and final surgery to remove the metal from my leg. I spent all of 2023 just focusing on PT and getting that leg ready, and finally had the surgery to remove the metal plate and screws two months ago.

Five total procedures under anesthesia (one for the knee which I'll detail later), but I was finally able to ditch the cane!

I still have a lot of work and healing to do, but each day so far has been my healthiest of the past two years. I can actually envision getting back to everything I used to do, one day soon. by @systmlord

An All New, All Different MCU is arriving very soon, and now that we've met Jean Grey, Marvel didn't waste any time introducing its next generation at D23.

With the X-Men set to headline post-Secret Wars, who are these newcomers? And do either the actors, characters, or stories have what it takes to replace the Avengers? taken in Chicago, Illinois by @systmlord

The Riot Fest lineup seems very directed towards me, specifically, this year, and I appreciate that. taken in Douglass Park by @systmlord
