Join me in Grand Rapids September 18th - October 3rd for #artprize2026 where I will be showing my interactive new media installation Phenomena: Rendered! You can find me at Cura Gallery in the North District from 12-8pm daily (6pm on Sundays). I may or may not be hanging around, so please don’t hesitate to say hi, ask some questions and get nerdy with me ☺️

To my Oklahomies ~ the September 4th preview is unfortunately cancelled due to the heat. I tried to wait as long as I could before making this decision 😢 With that said, I am actively looking for a place to show it here in town after I return, so if you have a public space and find what I do interesting, send me a dm and let’s talk! I already have ideas for the next iteration ;)

Diving deeper into TouchDesigner… I only learned enough to make my installation work haha. Always wanted to make a point cloud! I really missed being in my studio 😌 I’m happy to be back.

I have no words for how amazing last night was 🥰 I am so honored and excited to have won the public vote for new media!! This experience has been unlike anything I’ve ever done, and I am just so grateful to have had the opportunity. 6 months ago I was googling “how to write a pitch”… oh how far we’ve come! I’ve made so many new friends and memories along the way.

There’s still so much to be done today, so I plan to make a better post once I’m back in Oklahoma. But in the meantime, thank you so much to everyone for your support and love ~ I’m still in shock haha THANK YOU!!!! 💙 by @syyntra.maybe

I cannot say thank you enough to everyone who has stopped by, danced, twirled and played in “The Box” (or rave box as some have dubbed it lol). You all helped me make it to the top 5 in New Media and the top 30 overall! That was such a surprise and an honor 💙

Voting isn’t over! If you haven’t come out to see Phenomena: Rendered yet, come see me next to Silva at the Cūra Gallery! Voting closes Friday at 10pm. Either way, thank you so much to everyone who has come and played. I’ve met so many new friends and this has genuinely been the most amazing experience 🥰🫶

@artprize is in full swing! Hanging out in #grandrapids and wondering where to go next? Come see Phenomena: Rendered at Cūra Gallery next to @silvagrandrapids - I can promise you’ve never seen anything quite like it…

What is Phenomena: Rendered? It’s an interactive experience where your body movements impact the sound (and therefore the image) you see in front of you. This isn’t like a Wii - this experience encourages you to move your WHOLE body and is especially rewarding if you dance ;) it then gives a demonstration of oscilloscope music I made in my style.

I designed and built this project from the ground up, and with the help of a few family and friends, we made my dream come to life.

There are two questions I would like to answer for anyone who sees this post first.

Q: Is it recording?
A: NO! I made the box so anyone and everyone can step inside and feel like you’ve entered another dimension. Surveillance technology has not yet reached that dimension, so please… go dance your heart out 💙

Q: Was this made with AI?
A: NO! This project, audio and visuals, is made entirely by humans. I’m always happy to answer questions, so feel free to peek around the back and ask!

A huge shoutout to @esf_tulsa and @upcycletechfoundation in Tulsa who saved and recycled most of the electronics used in this installation. This installation runs on @touchdesigner @ableton and Osci-render by @james.ball_

#artprize2026 kicked off at Cūra Gallery last night with a preview before voting starts today! Had an absolute blast meeting everyone and finally seeing the box come to life. Seeing everyone let loose and dance with the machines was the coolest feeling ever 🥹 If you get a chance, please come see me! I’ll be there until the last day of ArtPrize :)

Today is my birthday :) I don’t usually mention it, but this one is special.

The last photo is me twenty years ago. I was a graphic designer and artist, but I worked in a shop doing oil and tire changes to pay the bills. I played music with friends, rode motorcycles and sometimes people took cool pictures of me. I really thought art and music would be my life.

But life had other plans. I lost my spark that year. When you’re a creative and you stop creating, it can be really damaging in ways it takes years to realize. I spent the last 20 years trying to fit myself into boxes I was never meant for, and I came very close to giving up entirely.

Now, in the final year of my 30’s, that spark has returned. I’m grateful for the opportunity to try again. I’m grateful for the places art is taking me and the people it has brought into my life. I’m grateful for the gift of perspective that time has given me. Most of all, I’m glad I stuck around to see what happens next.

Cheers 💙 by @syyntra.maybe
