“INFLUENCE IS A RESPONSIBILITY, NOT A PRIVILEGE.”

Influence is not measured by how many people follow you, but by how many lives become better because of you. You may not have the biggest position, the loudest voice, or the most followers, but your actions can inspire someone, change a mindset, and create a lasting impact.

Use your influence to inspire, empower, and create positive change—because every influence comes with a responsibility.

On Sunday 20th of September, I had the privilege of attending the KOH @ 62 Leadership Colloquium, where I served as the Coordinator, Youth Advocates for Hamzat (YAH), Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.

It was an enriching experience to be part of a gathering that brought together political leaders, government officials, youth advocates, student leaders and other stakeholders to engage, connect and share perspectives on leadership and the future of our society.

I was particularly opportune to meet and engage with the Deputy Governor of Lagos State @drobafemihamzat , as well as reconnect with several political leaders, Commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants to the Governor, fellow youth leaders and student leaders.

Beyond the conversations and networking, the experience reminded me that leadership is a continuous journey of learning, service, relationship-building and responsibility.

I sincerely appreciate our Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development , a Patron of the movement, for his support, encouragement and commitment to youth development.

Special appreciation also goes to Hon. Ariyo, popularly known as Megida, our Grand Patron, for his invaluable support and for volunteering his time, influence and resources towards ensuring the success of the colloquium.

To every leader, volunteer, member of YAH, fellow youth advocate and student leader who contributed in one way or another, thank you for making the event a memorable and successful one.

As the Coordinator, YAH Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, I remain grateful for the opportunity to serve, connect, learn and contribute to a movement committed to youth participation and leadership.

Leadership is not just about position; it is about service, impact and the people we inspire along the way.

"Leadership Is Not a Title—It’s a Choice to Change Your Community."

Every day, people transform their communities without ever holding a formal position. Leadership isn’t about waiting for power; it’s about taking action where you stand.

Whether it’s a small initiative, a neighborhood clean-up, or a simple act of kindness, leadership begins with you.

You don’t need a political title to be a catalyst for change—your influence starts now, right where you are.

Personal Accountability: The Mark of a True Leader

A true leader doesn't only take credit when things go right; they take responsibility when things go wrong. Personal accountability means owning your decisions, your actions, your mistakes, and your results.

Leadership grows when excuses stop. Instead of asking “Who is to blame?”, ask “What could I have done better?” Learn from your mistakes, correct them, and keep moving forward.

Great leaders don't run from responsibility—they rise to it.

Self-Discipline: The Foundation of Great Leadership

Self-discipline is the foundation upon which great leadership is built. Before you can lead others effectively, you must first learn to lead yourself. It is the ability to stay committed to your values, remain consistent in your actions, and make the right choices even when they are difficult. Great leaders are not driven by convenience but by discipline. Your daily habits, decisions, and consistency will ultimately determine the kind of leader you become.

Determination is the bridge between dreams and reality.

Success is not reserved for the strongest, but for those who are determined enough to keep moving when others stop. Let your determination today become the foundation of your achievements tomorrow.

Stay focused, remain consistent, and never give up—because greatness belongs to those who refuse to quit.

Great leaders don't seek the spotlight; they become the light that guides others toward a brighter future. @adetola.abubakar

True leadership is not about standing above the crowd, but about standing among the people—listening with humility, serving with purpose, and creating opportunities that inspire growth. @yoga20_05

Every handshake is an opportunity, every conversation is a chance to make a difference, and every act of service leaves a lasting impact.

In the end, leadership is not measured by titles or recognition, but by the lives you touch and the legacy you leave behind.@agboyiketu_voice

GREATER KOSOFE STUDENTS' UNION (GKSU)
============•••••••••======
`● KOSOFE ● AGBOYI-KETU ● IKOSI-ISHERI`
---------------------------------------

Today, Tuesday July 7th 2026.
I Talabi Adeniyi Samuel had the privilege of attending Day 1 of the Agboyi-Ketu Legislative Week at the Council Secretariat Hall.

In my capacity as the General Secretary of the Greater Kosofe Student's Union -GKSU-, a Youth Activist, and a Student Leader, I joined other stakeholders for the symposium themed: "Strengthening Grassroot Governance Through Legislative Partnership."

It was more than a lecture. It was an impactful session that broadened my understanding of leadership, accountability, and service at the grassroots.

I sincerely appreciate the keynote address delivered by Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda, Deputy Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly. Her lecture was insightful, inspiring, and deeply practical. She reminded us that true leadership is about people, listening, and leaving a legacy of service.

I also acknowledge the remarks of the Majority Leader of the House representing Lagos Island East LCDA Hon. Kunle Williams. He commended the Agboyi-Ketu Legislative Arm for their good work and charged them to keep building a track record and a legacy that the people will be proud of.

We were equally honoured to have Hon. Rev. Yetunde, the Pioneer Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, speak at the symposium. She commended the efforts of the current Legislative Arm and encouraged them to sustain the standard of service and unity that was laid from the foundation.

Hon. Femi Saheed, Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Kosofe Constituency 2, also delivered a goodwill speech. He highlighted the visible works of the Legislative Arm in the Council and applauded their commitment to grassroots development.

Special appreciation goes to our own, Hon. (Mrs) Adetola Adunni Abubakar, Executive Chairman, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, for hosting us so graciously. Thank you Ma for assuring us that you stand with the Legislative Arm and the Councilors across the 7 wards of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA. Your support shows that leadership can be both strong and compassionate.
