For Your Consideration: Happiest Girl of the Year 🏆

If we’ve ever met more than once, chances are I’ve expressed my fascination with the Recording Academy and given a pitch on how much I want to attend the Grammy Awards (pre AND main show). It’s more than an award show to me. As a young woman in the music industry, I knew the opportunity to be in the same energy space as many of the most talented and powerful people in music would serve as a major catalyst for my growth.

With the dates of the show written in dry erase marker in the corner of my bathroom mirror year after year, I prayed, meditated, wrote down, and spoke into existence that one day I would live out a very specific vision:

/// It’s early afternoon. I’m standing in front of my grey couch removing pink rollers from my hair. On the TV plays music videos; I change the channel to the E!Network to see commercial promoting the “Grammys: Red Carpet Live Coverage”. I grin and glance in my gold mirror, thinking to myself, “I’m going to be there later today!” ///

The thing is - that vision came to me while daydreaming on the floor on the very first night in my empty apartment. Through the years, I held on to the belief that my vision HAD to play out as long as I remained a tenant of that unit. But life went on and my lease has come to a close; I’m scheduled to move from the unit next week.

Then I got the call. Buzzer beater.

I want to sincerely thank @israelhoughton for making my vision become reality this weekend.

The entire experience felt like a full circle moment; reminding me why and how I started, who I found along the way, and why stopping has never been an option.

Unforgettable. In every way♥️

It’s so beautiful to think about how the women who came before me soaked up as many experiences and emotions life has to offer them. When it was time, they anticipated my arrival onto this earth, taught me as much they could, and cared for me with utmost amount of love and tenderness, just so I could experience the very same fruits of this life in a much sweeter capacity.
