🧑🏽‍🍳 TNT Kitchenette

Built From Scratch. Period.

“From scratch.”

In cooking, that means no shortcuts.
No boxed mix.
No pre-made sauce.
No cutting corners.

You measure.
You season.
You taste.
You adjust.
You start over if you have to.

Building a brand from scratch is the same way.

There’s no overnight success recipe.
There’s no secret seasoning packet.
There’s no microwave button for greatness.

Just:

🔥 Motivation — the spark that gets the stove on.
🔥 Dedication — showing up even when the kitchen is hot.
🔥 Consistency — stirring the pot every single day so it doesn’t burn.

From scratch means:
• Testing recipes 10 times.
• Rebranding when it doesn’t feel aligned.
• Learning packaging, pricing, permits, and patience.
• Showing up online when you’re tired.
• Believing in your vision before anyone else tastes it.

We’re not reheating someone else’s blueprint.
We’re creating our own.

TNT Kitchenette isn’t pre-packaged.
It’s handcrafted.
Seasoned with resilience.
Cooked with purpose.

And just like a real from-scratch meal…

It takes time.
But when it’s done?

It hits different.

🖤 Monday Black History | Food is Resistance

Before free lunch programs were a thing…
the Black Panther Party was already feeding the people.

In 1969, they created the Free Breakfast for Children Program and school lunch initiatives to make sure Black children didn’t have to learn on empty stomachs.
They understood something deeply:
👉🏾 You can’t educate a hungry child.
👉🏾 Food is power.
👉🏾 Community is survival.

But while they were feeding children and building clinics, the Black Panther Party was labeled a terrorist organization and systematically destroyed through:
	•	Surveillance
	•	False charges
	•	Incarceration
	•	And murder

Meanwhile… the Ku Klux Klan — responsible for lynchings, bombings, and generations of terror — was never charged under RICO and never officially classified the same way.

So we have to ask ourselves:
Who were the real criminals?
And who was really under the hoods?

At tonight’s dinner table, take a moment to educate yourself and your family:
Black history is not just struggle — it’s innovation, care, and leadership.

At TNT Kitchenette, we honor the legacy of feeding the community with love, purpose, and truth.
Because every plate can be political.
Every meal can be memory.
And every child deserves to eat. ❤️🖤💚

🕊️ Sunday Reflection from TNT Kitchenette 🕊️

Today, we honor the life and legacy of Eddie Carvery, a proud descendant of Africville and a lifelong fighter for justice.

Africville was a thriving Black community in Nova Scotia that was systematically destroyed by the government. Families were displaced, homes were taken, and generations of wealth were erased.
The government later apologized — but true financial reparations for that loss of generational wealth were never fully given.

Mr. Carvery spent his life reminding Canada that an apology without action is not justice.

At TNT, Sunday dinner has always been about more than food.
It’s about family.
It’s about history.
It’s about passing down stories the same way we pass down recipes.

So tonight, while you’re gathered around your table, we invite you to do something different:
🍽️ Eat together.
📚 Learn together.
🗣️ Talk about Africville.
❤️ Teach the next generation what was taken — and why it still matters.

Food connects us.
History grounds us.
And remembering is an act of resistance.

Rest in power, Mr. Eddie Carvery. Your fight continues at our tables, in our homes, and in our hearts. ✊🏾🖤

Before celebrity chefs…
Before cookbooks and cooking shows…
There was James Hemings.

Born enslaved in 1765, James Hemings was trained as a chef in France and became one of the most skilled cooks in early America.
He is credited with introducing dishes like:
🥔 French fries
🧀 Macaroni & cheese
🍦 Ice cream
to the United States.

After gaining his freedom, he became one of the first Black chefs to be professionally recognized for his culinary talent.

His story reminds us:
Black people weren’t just cooking to survive —
we were cooking at the highest levels of skill and innovation.

Even when enslaved, our excellence could not be hidden.
Even when uncredited, our influence shaped American cuisine.

Black chefs built the foundation of modern cooking culture.

We’ve always been gourmet.
We’ve always been gifted.
We’ve always been great.

Wednesday Wisdom 🖤✨

Before recipes were written down…
Before cookbooks…
Before food trucks and catering menus…

Food was survival.

During slavery, our ancestors braided more than hair — they braided strategy.

Corn kernels were hidden in plaits.
Rice tucked into braids.
Seeds woven into the scalp — so when they ran toward freedom, they carried life with them.

Our hair was a map.
Our braids were storage.
Our food was resistance.

They didn’t just escape.
They planted.
They cooked.
They rebuilt.

Black history isn’t just about struggle —
it’s about ingenuity.
It’s about knowing how to feed your family even when the world tried to starve you.

At TNT Kitchenette, every dish carries that legacy.
Because for us, food has never just been food.

It’s memory.
It’s strategy.
It’s survival.
It’s culture.
It’s power.

We are not just cooking.
We are continuing a story. 🖤🔥

Friday Black History Food Fact 🖤🍲

Enslaved Africans introduced one-pot and boiled meal cooking techniques that became the foundation of so many comfort foods we love today — stews, gumbo, rice dishes, and soul food.

These meals were born from survival and became traditions passed down through generations.

This one hits home for TNT.
Growing up in North Preston, Nova Scotia, one-pot meals were a way of life.
If you know, you know 😌

One of my favorite dishes of all time?
Corned beef & cabbage.
Simple. Hearty. Full of history. Full of love.

Black history lives in our kitchens — and in our memories.
Learn it. Honor it. Celebrate it. ✊🏾✨
