Great time seeing this guy off his past 40 years (or something like that) at @thejonesokc. Glad to be a part of it, proud of myself for remembering to take 1 picture (the other was sent to me), and enjoy your walkabout! by @tabhirschey

73ish hours and around 794,836 individual dots (via math) later, this little guy is finally finished. (Video on next page.)

I’m calling this one “Contact”.
[Insert “hoppy/happy” frog pun here.]

Glad this one is done and I am 104% confident that I will NEVER do another black background. Having a really solid “hindsight is 20-20” moment, because how on god’s green earth did I not think through having to black out the majority of a 14”x11” page using pens with 0.03 - 0.1mm tips?

My hand might be permanently cramped.

119.5 hours and somewhere around 695,268 individual dots (according to ai and math).

I’m titling this one “Imperfect” for obvious reasons.

TLDR: I changed pens three times and Frankensteined together an elephant. It’s made of tiny dots, was exhausting, and it took forever.

This one was just a mess. I started out using a pen with a 0.25mm wide tip. Once I was done with the trunk and legs, I found a pen that was 0.20mm wide and did better detailing. I had already done half of it, but decided to test out the smaller pen a bit, and before I knew it I had done the whole head.

It looked SUPER off-balance with the two different thicknesses, so this was a scrap drawing, but I figured what the hell - why not just redo the trunk on another piece of paper and figure out how to attach them later. I still assumed this was going in the trash, but it never hurts to see what happens.

I redid the trunk (still darker than I wanted to, but at least the dots were the same size) and glued it right over the old one, then filled in the edges to make it blend as best I could. I darkened the entire head TWICE to try and balance it out…..and then I found even smaller pens. The new ones are 1/20th of a millimeter and they’re my favorite. From there, I went over the whole thing with smaller detailing and shading (had to do the head two more times).

You can still see the shadow of the legs through the page, so I decided to lean into the chaos. I glued more scraps of paper around the page, “textured” them, and landed on the name “Imperfect” to reference both the broken tusk of the elephant, and the hot mess of the page(s).

I will still likely darken the head a bit more, but I need some time away from this particular page or I might light it on fire.

Hawaii photo dump. Incredible trip - seeing old friends, making new ones, trying new foods, hiking, cliff diving, and generally having a good time. taken in Hawaii Big Island by @tabhirschey

I had a ton of videos from Hawaii, so I threw quick clips of them together to make a summary video from when @jkang_chef and I roamed around the Big Island. Midnight snorkeling with Manta Rays, cliff diving, meeting new friends, machetes, waterfalls, scenic drives, golf... there's a little something for everyone. #mantarays #hawaii #Kona #Hilo #rainbowfalls #southpoint taken in Hawaii by @tabhirschey

This guy’s name is Yìcháng.

I started this drawing six years ago, but began working too much and it fell by the wayside. After a few changes, I finally had the time to pick it back up and finally finish it.(Well, almost…still a bit of touching up to do to be honest).

It took a total of around a year of active work, because apparently I’m a masochist and love stipple. For the full effect, zoom in to see the 0.2mm dots that comprise the whole drawing.
