If you’re new here, hi I’m Marie 👋🏽 the person behind Tabimawari 🇯🇵

I’m French, from Reunion Island (small island in the Indian Ocean next to Madagascar) and I’ve been obsessed with Japan since high school.
What started with anime, culture and language slowly became a much bigger part of my life.

I later lived in Kyoto for a year to study Japanese, then studied Japanese, culture and business in Paris, before doing a master’s degree in entrepreneurship.
Even when I wasn’t in Japan, my life kept revolving around it in so many ways.
And it was during my master’s that I created this account, Tabimawari.

At first, it was simply a way to share my love for Japan : my travels, my tips, my photos, and everything I was learning along the way. But little by little, it became more than that.

I started helping people around me plan their trips.
First friends and family, then followers, then real clients.
I kept answering the same questions over and over:
Where should I stay?
What train should I take?
How many days do I need?
What should I actually do?

And I realised I genuinely loved helping people make sense of it all. Not just by giving them more information, but by helping them turn everything into a trip that actually feels clear, realistic and personal.

That’s why I became a Japan travel planner. I wanted to help people spend less time feeling overwhelmed, and more time getting excited about their trip. Not by telling them there’s one perfect itinerary, but by helping them understand what actually makes sense for their route, their pace, and the way they want to travel.

Because Japan is exciting to plan… until it becomes overwhelming. Too many tabs, too many saved posts, and no clear idea how to turn it all into a smooth trip.

Today, I help travellers organize thoughtful Japan trips that feel clearer, more personal and much less stressful.

If you’re here because you love Japan or you’re planning your own trip, welcome 🤍

And if Japan is on your mind right now, comment PLAN JAPAN.💌

When I was younger I just knew I wanted to travel the world & Japan wasn’t even on my radar yet.

Fast forward: I discovered Japan, its culture, language & became obsessed with it as a teen, ended up living there for a year, went back several times, learnt the language… and now my actual job is helping people plan their trips to Japan 🇯🇵

If you’re planning a trip to Japan and feel lost with routes, cities and everything, comment or DM “PLAN JAPAN” and I’ll send you all the info so we can plan your itinerary together.

The fastest way to make your Japan trip exhausting? Trying to fit in every single place you’ve saved 😭

There will always be another café, temple, neighbourhood or activity you wish you had added. Even while you’re in Japan, you’ll keep discovering new places.

But missing one place doesn’t mean you missed Japan.

Choose what really matters to you, group places by area and leave some room to enjoy what happens along the way. Your trip will feel so much better when you’re not constantly checking the time or rushing to the next stop.

Need help organizing everything?

Comment TABI I’ll send you my complete Japan Guide & my custom itinerary services.

So how many red flags are currently hiding in your Japan itinerary? 🙄

A good itinerary isn’t the one with the most places. It’s the one that actually makes sense once you’re there.

Less time going back and forth, realistic days, enough time to eat and rest, and a little space for unexpected discoveries.

Saving hundreds of places is easy. Turning them into a trip that fits your dates, pace, interests and budget is the tricky part.

If your Japan plans are starting to feel a little chaotic, comment PLAN JAPAN and I’ll send you the details about my custom itinerary service.🥰🇯🇵

MAPPA absolutely KILLED IT with the Jujutsu Kaisen exhibition too 😭🔥

After Attack on Titan, I HAD to show you the Jujutsu Kaisen section at the MAPPA EXPO 15th Anniversary in Tokyo!!

It was insane!

Especially the immersive installation with Yuji on the train, the scenes playing on the screens behind him, and THE MUSIC. Everything together was just incredible. I could have stayed there watching it over and over again 😭

You could also discover original drawings, animation production materials, behind-the-scenes details, and so much more!

The exhibition celebrates 15 years of MAPPA, featuring 23 anime titles, including Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan, Chainsaw Man, Banana Fish 🥹 and many more!

If you’re an anime fan visiting Tokyo, definitely add this to your itinerary!

📍 YURAKUCHO MUSEUM, Tokyo
📅 September 16 to December 7, 2026
🎟️ ¥2,000 advance / ¥2,200 same-day (adult)
Only reservation on Lawson tickets website.

Would you go?! 👀

Same country. Completely different trips.

A solo adventure, a family holiday, a trip with friends or a special graduation trip… Every traveller has different dates, priorities, interests and needs.

My job isn’t to give everyone the same itinerary.

I take your ideas, the places you’ve already saved and any bookings you’ve made, then turn everything into a realistic trip that flows.

You still get a trip that feels completely yours, without having to figure everything out alone.

Planning a trip to Japan?

Comment PLAN JAPAN & I’ll send you all the details.

During my last trip to Japan, I visited the MAPPA EXPO 15th Anniversary in Tokyo, and OMG, the Attack on Titan section was INSANE. And so was JK AND CHAINSAW (will post later hehe)

Especially the Rumbling installation. Seeing the Wall Titans and Eren’s Founding Titan brought to life like that was just incredible. I was NOT ready 😭

The exhibition celebrates 15 years of MAPPA, featuring 23 anime titles, including Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, Banana Fish 🥹🥹, and more!

You can discover original drawings, behind-the-scenes production materials, immersive installations, and even exclusive merchandise.

If you’re an anime fan visiting Tokyo, definitely add this to your itinerary!

I’m not going to tell you to avoid Tokyo, Kyoto or the famous places just because they’re touristy.

Some places are popular for a very good reason and are absolutely worth visiting.

The problem is when your trip looks exactly like everyone else’s, even though it doesn’t necessarily match what you actually enjoy.

You can visit the must-sees while also adding quieter neighborhoods, lesser-known places and experiences that genuinely fit you.

That’s exactly what I do as a Japan travel planner.

I’m not here to fill your days with as many places as possible. I help you choose the right ones and build a logical itinerary around your dates, pace and interests.

Comment PLAN JAPAN if you’d like my help planning your trip to Japan.

One of the most immersive dining experiences I’ve discovered in Tokyo! 🇯🇵✨

During my recent trip to Japan, I was invited to experience Wa Note (和ノ音), a restaurant in Azabu-Juban where Japanese fine dining meets projection mapping. @azabu.wa_note

What makes this place different is that the entire dining experience changes with every course. The walls and even your table come to life with beautiful projections inspired by Japan, from cherry blossoms to lanterns and traditional scenery.

And it’s not just about the visuals! The restaurant serves an 8-course omakase menu featuring premium Japanese wagyu and seasonal ingredients.

I really loved the concept of discovering Japanese culture through food, visuals and sound, all at the same time. It genuinely feels like you’re part of a story while enjoying your dinner.

Definitely an experience to consider for a special occasion in Tokyo!

📍 Wa Note (和ノ音), Azabu-Juban, Tokyo
🚉 Around 3 minutes from Azabu-Juban Station
💰 Omakase course from ¥50,000 per person
⏰ Dinner seatings at 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM
📅 Reservation required
🥩 Halal-friendly option available (confirm when booking)

A special thank you to @azabu.wa_note for inviting me to experience this dinner!

PR invitation: This dining experience was complimentary as part of a collaboration with Wa Note. I was not paid to create this content.

I just got back from Japan, and I already miss the food so much 🥹🇯🇵

So this month’s @wearesakuraco box arrived at just the right time. (Gifted product, collaboration!)

A little tea break, Japanese treats, and a way to keep enjoying Japan from home. The theme is “Echoes of Ukiyo-E” inspired by traditional Japanese art. Along with the snacks and tea, there’s a cultural booklet to explore and a keepsake to enjoy long after the treats are gone. Exactly what I needed while looking through my trip photos 🍵

Want a little taste of Japan at home too? Use TABIMAWARI for $5 off your first box, check out Sakuraco through my link at team.sakura.co/tabimawari! or visit the link in my bio to discover Sakuraco!

What Japanese food do you miss most after a trip?
