Casa Violeta — People & Everyday Living At Casa Violeta in Uluwatu, Bali, the relationship between people and architecture is explored through the familiar rituals of everyday life. The living, dining, and outdoor areas accommodate a range of activities, from shared meals and conversations to quieter moments of reading and relaxation. These moments were not incidental to the design. From the earliest conversations, Violeta Blengio expressed a series of personal routines she wished to experience within the home. The ability to dine while remaining connected to someone swimming, to move between social gatherings and individual moments of rest, and to experience different activities within a shared environment became part of the spatial considerations that informed the residence. The proximity of the dining table, lounge, and pool allows these activities to coexist without requiring physical separation. Each setting retains its own purpose while remaining connected to the others, creating opportunities for interaction as well as individual occupation. Captured with Violeta and Ben, the photographs revisit these early design intentions through the experience of inhabiting the completed residence. What began as a series of personal requirements is now expressed through the ordinary moments of daily life, offering a direct relationship between the way the home was imagined and the way it is used. Casa Violeta, Uluwatu, Bali For Casa Violeta, the idea of a holiday home extends beyond a place to stay. Conceived as a personal retreat for its owner, Violeta Blengio, the residence explores how a home away from home can offer a familiar sense of belonging, while opening that experience to others. Set on a compact 100-square-metre site in Uluwatu, Bali, the 55-square-metre residence brings together private spaces and a connected indoor-outdoor living environment. Soft curves and rounded openings introduce a gentle architectural language, while the courtyard forms the heart of everyday life. Here, dining, swimming, conversation, and moments of rest coexist rather than remain separate. The arrangement allows different activities to unfold within a shared setting, creating a sense of togetherness without compromising the opportunity for privacy. A restrained material palette brings together varying textures and finishes within a harmonious range of earthy tones. Lush planting, natural light, and open-air spaces further contribute to an atmosphere of retreat, where architecture and landscape work together to encourage a slower rhythm of living. Designed by Studio Wangun and brought to life through TABO's integrated construction and interior production, Casa Violeta reflects a shared attention to materiality, craftsmanship, and the experience of inhabiting a space. More than a holiday destination, Casa Violeta is an exploration of what it means to feel at home, even when away from it. Capdangu is rooted in the honesty of its limasan heritage, shaped carefully for contemporary use. The aged wood frame is preserved as the soul of the space, allowing its proportion, texture, and structure to speak softly rather than be overwritten. textures and hues ground the atmosphere, creating a calm architectural backdrop. Within this restraint, the bar emerges as a quiet contrast - a deliberate gesture that reads from the outside in, without disrupting the harmony of the whole. Rather than altering the original structure, the design adopts a nondestructive approach. The solid timber construction is embraced as an integral guide, influencing an adaptive and dimensionally responsive execution throughout the space. Breathing, grounded, and welcoming, Capdangu allows light, air, and people to move naturally where tradition is not replicated, but reinterpreted with care. Words can’t begin to describe how proud I am of @flirtuluwatu and the countless hours of hard work and love that Jord, Sam, myself and our teams have put into creating it. We signed for the land on 26 Feb 2025, and celebrated our Melaspas Ceremony on 26 Feb 2026. How incredible is that. Every waking hour over the past year plus has been spent designing, building and perfecting this stunning venue. Not only that, but also forming relationships with some of the most beautiful people has been unforgettable. We took on an absolute challenge, to build a restaurant from scratch in another country. No business is ever going to be easy. The process had us disheveled, exhausted, grateful, excited, fulfilled. All the feels. And with that, the end result is so damn worth it and I’d do it 100 times over. We’re especially thankful for our building team @tabo._ who have completed such a high quality project in such a short time frame. Absolute gems! Another huge thank you to our beautiful staff, some of which who have stuck with us from the very beginning. You’re all phenomenal. Here’s to a future full of happiness and success (and fkn fantastic food & cocktails). We’ve now been open and operating for one week, bring it onnnn baby. If you’re in Bali, make sure to come and check us out in Ulu! Lots of love 💋⚡️ by @tabo._

Portal, Hatch Extension Room, Uluwatu, 2025 Design & Lighting @hatch_bali Construction @tabo._ Soundproof Engineer arsvara A Controlled Space for Uncontrolled Energy A spatial journey built without surprises. From the openness of the street to a space that gradually becomes more precise, the light softens, the sound narrows, and the materials shift in character. The transition is never announced—it is simply felt. Each step calms the body, filters distraction, and guides you inward. Architecture becomes a pause, a threshold between the everyday and expression. Behind the sense of freedom crafted through this transition, the space operates with a quiet but exacting discipline. The acoustic system is designed as a singular body—walls, ceilings, and structural cavities working together to hold energy and keep resonance alive without disturbing its surroundings. The goal is not silence, but focus; sound is shaped and centered to remain within its intended field. Light then becomes the second instrument. Its intensity, temperature, and rhythm are controlled deliberately, allowing the atmosphere to shift gradually with the movement of the night. Light does not merely illuminate—it sets the tempo, softening or amplifying the experience, guiding the body deeper into a space designed to receive, not to judge. Isa Villas Uluwatu, In tropical architecture, heat and humidity are not problems to be solved, but conditions to be embraced. Isa Villa responds with a construction approach that is honest, adaptive, and contemplative. We chose exposed skim-coated cement not just for its aesthetic, but for its performance. With high thermal mass, the walls absorb heat slowly during the day and release it at night—keeping the space more stable in temperature. Without paint, the surface breathes better, aided by a breathable sealant that helps prevent peeling and mildew. In regions like Bali, where access to premium finishing materials is limited or expensive, this solution also offers practical efficiency. It allowed us to reallocate the budget to more impactful elements: curated landscaping, custom furniture, and the quality of natural light. Hairline cracks, subtle stains, and the aging process aren’t flaws—they’re accepted as part of the space’s natural rhythm. This aligns with the tropical design spirit: honest, grounded, and appreciative of time—drawing from ideas like wabi-sabi, barefoot luxury, and organic aging. Geometrically, Isa Villa expresses softness through firm form. Massive walls and rigid lines are softened by gentle curves that invite the light. Reflections from the pool extend the composition, drawing the sky into the architecture. Stonework isn’t ornamental—it anchors the space with a quiet presence from the ground up. Here, architecture does not try to impress—it offers calm. And like every project we build, not everything is perfect. But every imperfection is observed, documented, and learned from. Isa Villa has become a quiet chapter in our ongoing research—a journey of building with awareness, with care, and with sincerity. #balicontractor #baliconstruction #contractorbali #generalcontractor #baliarchitect #baliinterior #construction #constructionbali #kontraktorjakarta #kontraktorbandung #proyekkonstruksi #arsitekturindonesia #desaininterior #interiordesign by @tabo._
