The feminine urge to call every morally grey woman "MOTHER" 👑
@tabutiful

🎬 • Haider (2014) & Maqbool (2003) directed by @vishalrbhardwaj

Two haunting Shakespearean adaptations exploring ambition, betrayal, guilt, and the devastating cost of power. Featuring Tabu as Ghazala and Nimmi, the films blend psychological drama, tragedy, and unforgettable performances. Tabu didn't just play these women—she became them. Two haunting performances, two morally complex queens, and enough emotional and psychological chaos to keep you thinking about them long after the credits roll. PEAK CINEMA. PERIOD. 💅🏻

The Namesake (2006), directed by Mira Nair (@pagliji ) is a deeply moving drama based on Jhumpa Lahiri’s novel. Starring Kal Penn, Tabu, Irrfan Khan, and Sahira Nair, the film follows the Ganguli family as they navigate the complexities of immigration, cultural identity, family, and belonging between India and the United States.

At the heart of the story is Ashima, portrayed by Tabu, whose journey from a young Bengali woman adjusting to an unfamiliar country to a mother building a life for her family forms one of the film’s most emotional threads. Through generations, The Namesake explores the tension between tradition and individuality, the meaning of home, and the quiet ways families shape who we become.

Sorry but nobody is doing it like Tabu as Nimmi. Nobody🛐

🎬: Maqbool
A tale of ambition, betrayal, desire and a fate that no one could escape. From Nimmi’s longing to her darkness, Tabu gave us a character who was as vulnerable as she was dangerous, as human as she was haunting. Every glance, every silence, every unspoken emotion carried the weight of a tragedy slowly unfolding. She didn’t just play Nimmi - she became the storm at the heart of it all.
And somewhere between love and guilt, power and destruction, we witnessed a masterpiece that refused to leave us untouched. What a fucking performance. 🎬🔥

Somewhere between ishq and junoon, there was Begum Hazrat 🥀🖤
@tabutiful

Fitoor(2016), directed by Abhishek Kapoor, is a romantic drama inspired by Charles Dickens' Great Expectations. Starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Katrina Kaif, and Tabu, the film follows Noor, a young Kashmiri artist whose childhood love for Firdaus grows into an intense and complicated relationship shaped by class differences, heartbreak, and manipulation.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Kashmir, Fitoor explores themes of love, obsession, ambition, and emotional destruction. With poetic visuals, haunting music, and powerful performances especially by Tabu as the mysterious Begum the film creates a melancholic and visually rich story about longing and fate.

A mother’s grief, a cop’s resolve, and a mind that refuses to surrender - Meera Deshmukh
@tabutiful

🎬: Drishyam (2015) directed by Nishikant Kamat; Drishyam 2 (2022) and Drishyam: The conclusion (2026) directed by Abhishek Pathak (@abhishekpathakk )
Drishyam is a gripping game of perception, memory, and manipulation, where every detail matters and every silence holds the weight of an unanswered question. At its heart lies Meera Deshmukh, a mother caught between unbearable grief and an unyielding need for answers. As an officer, she searches for evidence; as a mother, she searches for peace. But when every lead seems to lead nowhere and every truth feels just out of reach, her pursuit becomes more than an investigation - it becomes a battle of minds, patience, and will. Featuring Tabu in a performance that moves effortlessly between restraint and rage, vulnerability and authority, Drishyam reminds us that sometimes the most compelling battles are fought not with words, but with what remains unsaid.

Some stories entertain you, some stories consume you. Drishyam did both🖤
@tabutiful
🎬: Drishyam
A story built on silence, strategy, fear and the kind of love that makes people do the impossible. From Meera Deshmukh to Vijay Salgaonkar, every character, every pause, every little detail became a piece of a puzzle we were still trying to solve long after the credits.
And now that this chapter has reached its conclusion… all I can say is — what a fucking journey. 🎬🖤
Still thinking about it. Still processing it. Still obsessed

Set in post-independence India, A Suitable Boy follows Lata Mehra as she navigates family, love, tradition and the search for her own identity. At the heart of the story is Saeeda Bai, a celebrated courtesan whose presence carries both elegance and quiet vulnerability.
Tabu brings an extraordinary depth to Saeeda Bai, making every glance, pause and silence feel intentional. A character wrapped in music, longing and quiet defiance - Saeeda Bai doesn’t simply enter the story; she leaves an impression that lingers long after she’s gone.
